A brick wall has collapsed leaving a two-year-old boy fighting for life in hospital.
Police report that the brick wall fell on the toddler on a property at Irongate, which is located near Toowoomba in south-east Queensland.
The incident occurred at 6.00pm yesterday evening and Queensland Ambulance Service senior operations supervisor Stephen Johns said the boy has suffered critical head injuries.
He reported that ambulance workers treated the boy at the scene, and then he was flown directly to Lady Cilento Hospital in Brisbane.
“Paramedics were able to treat the patient on the scene and arranged for Careflight Toowoomba to meet our paramedics en route and they further stabilised the patient,” Stephen said.
Careflight confirmed the boy’s necessary flight and added that the boy’s mum accompanied him on the trip and they arrived at the hospital at 8.30pm.
It is not known what caused the wall to collapse at this stage and Workplace Health and Safety officers are investigating the incident.
