A giraffe calf is a rare sight and it’s even rarer to see one being born. Last month a U.S. zoo captured the moment a special new delivery arrived.

Such a big fall for a newborn! It is unbelievable that the calf can walk so soon after birth.

How big were your babies?

  • We don’t know how long the Giraffe had been in labour before she gave birth to her calf. She is standing upright on all 4 legs which may help with the final delivery. I noticed that she very gently supported her calf until it was standing properly.

  • How wonderful to actually see the birth. Amazing how new technology can give us this insight these days.

  • What a beautiful and rare sight to see this giraffe giving birth. I can’t believe the babies don’t get injured from that great fall.
