Video footage shows a mother in China breastfeeding her baby in traffic.

She was pulled over by police on September 22 and fined 200 yuan ($40au) for a traffic violation, reports the People’s Daily Online.

The mother later explained that the one-year-old baby had been crying and the car got stuck in traffic.

Police found her on the morning of September 22 with the baby in her arms, being nursed.

Police immediately pulled her over and questioned her about her actions.

She told officers that traffic had come to a standstill and her baby kept crying so she decided to feed her little one.

Police criticised the woman’s actions and said that she had put her life at risk along with the life of her child, reports Daily Mail.

  • What an absolute moron! Doesn’t she care about the safety of her and her child. Disgraceful!

  • Without seat belts, while driving? I hadn’t heard about it before. Shocking!!

  • If she’d had any sense she would have pulled over somewhere to feed her baby. How could she think it was safe to breastfeed her baby while driving. If she had been hit from behind, with no seatbelt on, the baby would have been crushed against the steering wheel.

  • You are not allowed to feed a baby while a car is moving at all. That includes sitting in the back seat breastfeeding.
Was the Mum in China going to try to steer the car with her knees? A one year old baby is quite big.

  • These days it seems that anything goes. There would have had to have been a safer alternative.

  • How dangerous ! The woman should have parked before she started to feed her boy.
Glad they didn’t have an accident !

  • Do you know what? I’m not that surprised. People don’t seem to care about road safety or passenger safety. We see so many ridiculous things done by drivers now, this will probably just become the new norm. We need to do better. A vehicle is a dangerous weapon when distracted.

    • I am often saddened by the driver behaviour and safety on the road. A car is a potential lethal weapon when it has speed on the road. The people in all cars need to be taken care of by safe driving and good road behaviour.

  • Dangerous – baby seats are in cars for a reason.

  • Oh my goodness. How silly. Lucky there wasn’t an accident

  • Well I know we are always saying that woman should be allowed to feed their babies when and where needed but this is certainly taking it too far.

  • I agree, pullover first and then breastfeed your baby. Don’t put your family at risk!

  • You pull over if you need to breastfeed not do it while driving!

    • exactly..the worst scenario is you may not have a bub to feed if indeed you were to have an accident.
