Blogger shares if you’ve ever had a favourite piece of clothing shrink in the dryer, you know how upsetting it can be! Luckily, this process makes it easy to “UNSHRINK” your clothing!

Did you know you can ‘unshrink’ your clothes, using baby shampoo, a bucket and some lukewarm water?

Blogger Jill Nystul shares her tips, add a lid full or 1/3 of a cup of baby shampoo or condition to the warm water and let the clothing soak in the soapy water for half an hour.

Jill says: ‘This will relax the fibres in the clothing’.

After half an hour, remove the piece of clothing, wring out excess water, and lay it flat on a dry towel.

Ms Nystul claims that she was was able to regain a few inches lost on the legs of her track pants.

Followers of Ms Nystul’s Youtube have commented that the handy hack has worked well for them.

One person wrote: ‘This worked for me! I didn’t have baby shampoo so I used hair conditioner per another comment and my 100% rayon pants are saved.’

Another comment added “I tried it and found out  after you’ve stretched your clothes , wait until they are nearly dry and takes on the item, you can stretch it to fit your body just the way you want them to. I put the item on for drying, and it ended up perfect”

NOTE: Unfortunately, the hack will not work for those trying to resize wool garments.

  • I lately shrank (by mistake of course) one lamb wool sweater. Such a pity. But I guess I can’t do anything about it anymore. :-(

  • If only I knew this when I shrunk my favourite jumper a few years ago. $100 jumper chucked out. It was wool though so I’m not sure thus would even work for it

  • If they have only shrunken a bit and are a stretchy material you can actually stretch them a little bit just by ironing them in the direction you need to enlarge the size. They possibly need to be a little bit damp. Too long ago since I witnessed it being done. I know it works on T-shirt material
