Baby Bunting have issued a recall for SmarTrike trikes and Fisher Price Royal Trike over concerns people use them as a stroller.

There are concerns when used as a stroller, the product may cause injury to a child if it rolls in an uncontrolled manner or if a child falls out.

Consumers should not use the product as a stroller.

The products have similar features of a stroller, but are unsafe for use as strollers as they do not come with parking brakes, tether straps or suitable warnings.

If you purchased the product believing that it was a stroller or that it could be used as a stroller, return the product to Baby Bunting to receive a full refund.

  • Not the sort of thing I would have ever purchased

  • Can’t imagine anyone using this as a stroller. But can imagine a parent hanging on to the trike’s handle to stop it falling over when their child is in it.

  • Surprised that anyone thinks this is a stroller really.

  • Oh I thought the recall was a safety issue

  • Surely this is just common sense. It’s a trike not a stroller. Its design for young kids to get the grasp motion of riding a bike.

    • You would hope common sense – but it does not always happen!

  • Glad they have put out a warning and recall for this tricycle.

  • Of course this product should not be used as a stroller, it’s a trike !

  • For me this was obvious but may not be to others. Warning labels must be clear
