Hello!

I have a new theory, not based on science, and there’s no delicate way of saying this – but, I believe that sex is making you fat!

The funny part is that there are numerous resources to support the exact opposite. In fact, there is information to suggest a large number of calories are burned during intimacy and I can see how that makes sense in terms of energy expenditure.

Here’s the problem though – what do a majority of people do after moments of great passion?

Well, it’s practically the same as what we do after a major workout!

WE EAT!

We hit the fridge or pantry no matter what time of day or night, because we feel ravenous after losing all those calories.

Most of our automatic responses to this physically intense experience is to replenish all those calories we just burned- and then some!

It’s My Husband’s Fault

Why did I not see this before! My husband is making me fat! And not just pregnancy related fat, but FAT fat!

This is ALL HIS FAULT! I would be fit if not for him!

I remember being told that people gain weight once they settle down. They supposedly become ‘comfortable’ in life with their partner and as if by magic- gain weight!

I don’t need science to back me up when I say it’s not the comfort! It’s not the happiness… well maybe in a way it is the ‘happiness’ *cough*… but someone needs to warn people about the real risks of settling down, especially of intimacy!

It’s Out Of Your Control!

It’s simple: if you choose to settle down with someone, chances are you could more than likely, become more intimate with them- the more intimate you become, thus the more frequently you are going to MINDLESSLY hit up that fridge or pantry of yours. Then BOOM- before you know it you’re both going to be chubbier than you were when you first met!

Forget metabolism rates slowing down with age, or lack of physical activity- because let’s face it, you are being active in your moments of passion- and then you are undoing all your hard work when hunger strikes!

What’s The Solution?

So, what’s the solution in all of this? Putting a lock on your fridge or pantry? Drinking water instead of eating straight after moments of love making? Abstinence?

Who knows!

It’s probably a different answer for each of us according to how motivated we are to replenish our calories.

Over indulging on food and love

Maybe even just recognising that this is precisely what we do – acknowledging that we overindulge on food after over indulging on our partner. Even though it does seem reasonable to need to eat after a time like that!

Perhaps we need to do some kind of meal prep to have on hand for after the event? Something quick and easy to grab that isn’t loaded with calories or has low nutritional value.

An emergency sex snack kit filled with nutritious alternatives to the foods which we crave after high intensity workouts of sorts.

Meanwhile, I can NEVER let my hubby discover my theory. Because if he did, he would blame me for his weight gain…

  • Please there’s one more crackpot idea to make us feel bad about our weight

  • That’s a crazy theory for sure.

  • What a silly post. Only you can regulate what you eat, so don’t go blaming anyone else. If you want to stay slim, enjoy the calories burnt and don’t eat.

  • This article is bit ridiculous just like women claiming having a baby made them fat. Your life, your choices. Eat correctly, get off your butt and exercise then you wouldnt have to make excuses. I used to be 110kg and now down to 50kgs because i relised to see it for what it is and noone can change you but you.

  • I think someone’s mother was bored and wrote this article as a joke, yes?

  • Just sleep straight after if its night. If it is day, I can’t say I remember feeling hungry..

  • It’s not the sex itself but the fact that you are comfortable with your partner, and most cases you eat after sex, well for most of us we go to sleep… Lol..

  • Sex isn’t making you fat, certain foods do ;)

  • I’ll have a drink of water afterwards but don’t get up to eat!

  • I think this article talks more about the potential to gain weight from being less concerned in impressing your special someone rather than sex making you fat. But I don’t disagree that many do let their guard down and get a bit lazier.

  • Not really. And my husband would disagree claiming we’re not having enough sex !!!!

    Reply

  • I don’t think this is true.
