The moment a toddler gained superhuman strength to save his twin brother from being crushed by a chest of drawers.

The video starts by showing the boys pulling out the drawers and climbing on the unit before it topples over and one of the two-year-old children are see lying under the drawers, clearly trapped and crying in pain.

His brother wanders around the dresser, and appears to be figuring out a way to help his sibling.

He tries several times to lift the piece of furniture, before eventually leaning his whole weight against it.

The footage was posted online by the boys’ father Ricky Shoff, from Orem, Utah, on January 1.

On Facebook , Ricky wrote: “I’ve been a little hesitant to post this.

“But I feel it’s not only to bring awareness, but it is also incredible. We are so grateful for the bond that these twin brothers share.

“We know Bowdy was not alone in moving the dresser off Brock. And [we] feel blessed that he is OK.

“Please make sure all your dressers are bolted and secured to the wall.”

“It is not light. It does take me and my husband to move it,” the boys’ mother Kayli Shoff told MSNBC.

“They have that twin bond and that’s just what you do for your brother.”

Mrs Shoff was upstairs at the time of the accident and was unaware of the incident until she saw the chest of drawers face-down on the floor of the bedroom.

It was only when they reviewed the surveillance system when the parents realised what had happened.

“He could have been stuck under there for who knows how long,” she said.

Aside from a complaint about a sore head, Brocky was totally fine afterwards.

“I think they were more nervous about being in trouble.”

The accident happened on Sunday, but the Shoffs waited until yesterday to post the video on Facebook, as a warning of the dangers of unrestrained furniture.

The Shoffs have now clamped the chest of drawers to the wall and removed the handles to stop the twins attempting any more climbing.

  • I could not get the video to play. Those little boys must have got such a fright. Luckily it all turned out well.

  • When he was able to get his head out how could the parents not hear him crying? This was very difficult to watch but thankfully it ended well and the little guy is ok.

  • I have seen this video many times and it shocks me every time. What an amazing sibling to be able to save his brother like that. It was hard to watch, and I kept hoping an adult would enter the room to help. A good result, though. It could have been so much worse.

  • I know a Mum who heard a thud and ran. Little master was under it unconscious and regained consciousness just after she managed to get it back upright. They moved theirs into the laundry as that door was always kept shut.

  • Amazing that he managed to help his brother out. I don’t want to post a negative comment But as a parent how could you not hear this loud bang and not rush in to check? Also I was worried that the boy would swallow the lid he had on his finger and start choking in the interview!

  • Absolutely amazing! I’m shocked that they were left alone for so long though. Surely you would think the parents would have heard the drawers crash to the ground, the screaming child…..yet no one came

  • I shuddered when I saw that! That could have ended so much worse, but what an amazing little person!

  • How scary !! Thank God this ended well !
We have some cupboards which actually needs screwing into the wall, but we are renting and are not allowed to drill any holes… It doesn’t feel good

  • Saw this on the news today. Do hope more people will take the message and secure these flimsy top heavy dressers to the wall. The youngster was so clever in working out how to get the dresser off his twin brother, and no doubt they were scared to yell as they were doing something they had probably been told not to do. Hopefully he would have yelled for help if he was unable to slide the dresser off his brother.

  • Really scary! In particular when the brother walks over the dresser to reach the other side. Why didn’t they ask for help? Were they alone? I’m glad there was a happy ending!!
