Hello!

“Mummy do you want me to huggle you to sleep?” I heard a quiet little voice whisper to me as she gently shook me awake.

Of course I wanted her to “huggle” me to sleep. I mean it was 3am and she had just woken me up, so of course, cuddling her and going back to sleep sounded glorious!

She ever so carefully climbed her way around my almost 39-week old pregnant belly and we snuggled for a moment before I realised that I was probably going in to labour very soon

I mean my three year old hadn’t climbed into bed with me for almost a year, so to me this was a sign that she sensed I needed her.

She Just Knew

Torn between whether to get up and get ready to go to hospital- and simply enjoying the moment with her, I decided to choose the latter because I knew our souls would greatly benefit from the time together considering that if I did go into labour she wouldn’t see me for a couple of days.

Within an hour I was in labour, and so deeply grateful that my daughter and I got to spend that time together.

Sometimes, if you are incredibly lucky, your little one might climb in to bed with you. Often we assume that they do this because they need us. But what if the real reason they come to us in the middle of the night is because they sense that we need them to comfort us and remind us how very blessed we are…

I hope my little girl knows how much I appreciate the comfort she gave me when I needed it the most!

  • I whole heartedly agree that I need my kids more then they need me, especially as they’re all grown up now

  • I think I needed my kids more then they needed me. Perhaps that will change when I’m gone and they realise they actually needed me more then they though. I’m not too fazed though, I love them they love me and they’re doing well, so I’m happy

  • I found it amusing that one of ours would climb up onto our bed and curl up without us realising…or at the foot of the bed. Dad is very tall hand had he stretched legs junior might have landed on the floor.

  • I like it when my kids are with me at home or on holidays. It does make me stop and think I need them. I always drag my daughter with me only if it’s around the corner to get milk. It’s the company I like. I do miss having my yr7 son around me as he’s now finding his ground. I still give him a kiss good nite.

  • That loving mum-child connection is a two way street. My daughter 12 at highschool now. Thriving! I miss something though! That little girl which I remind myself is ok. It’s ok to kinda feel needy. Motherhood feeling is so powerful isn’t it!
