With over 31 million visits per year, Centennial Parklands is a fabulous place to explore with the family. Incorporating Moore Park, Queens Park and Centennial Park, there are great school holiday programs on offer this July, with something for everyone.

If you’re keen to keep the kids busy and outside amongst nature this school holiday break, there’s plenty of fun-filled activities at Centennial Parklands.

Aboriginal Weaving Classes

Dates: Monday 8 July 2019

Ages: Suitable for 5 years+ (all children must be supervised)

Cost: $29 per session, all materials provided

Where: The WILD PLAY Discovery Centre

The art of weaving and basket making has been an integral part of Aboriginal culture for years. The knowledge and skills have been handed down through the generations, and now your child can learn it too.

In celebration of Aboriginal culture, your children can join Centennial Parkland’s Shared Knowledge expert weavers and learn how to create baskets and tools out of resources from the Parklands. They’ll also hear all about the historic use of native plants and how local Aboriginal peoples identify and utilise them.

Bushrangers Campfire Club

Dates: Wednesday 10 and 17 July 2019

Ages: 5 – 12 years

Cost: $95 per ticket

Where: The WILD PLAY Discovery Centre

An awesome alternative to screen time, children will experience a day of wildlife, bushcraft, outdoor challenges, games and free play, all lead by the experienced Centennial Parklands bushranger in the great outdoors. Activities are designed to allow children to play outside and take part in problem solving and cooperative challenges.

In the winter months, kids will get to know the art of firecraft – learn how to light a fire from a spark without matches and make some delicious dampers.

This program is a firm holiday favourite and places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.

Kids vs Wild – Campfire Club

Dates: Thursday 11 and Tuesday 16 July 2019

Ages: 5 – 12 years

Cost: $35 per ticket

Where: The WILD PLAY Discovery Centre

As the days get cooler, fire craft becomes a priority for survival. Kids can learn how to survive through the night by campfire making, using only the resources available in the Park. Then they can take advantage of all their hard work by cosying up by the fire, making damper and stick bread.

In case bush fire ratings are above low and fires aren’t able to be lit in the Park, the program will be changed to shelter building, outdoor challenges and free play.
