Laura Ruffino, mother of two, has adopted her BFF’s four children after cancer took her life.

Elizabeth Diamond was a loving single mother of four, who was tragically diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer last year in August. This was a shock to Laura, who had been her best friend since grade 5 at school.

When diamond was diagnosed, she approached Laura to look after her children should anything happen to her.

“She said if anything ever happens to me, I want you to take my girls. I instantly said OK”

When Elizabeth lost her battle to cancer in April this year, Laura and her husband Rico took in the four girls, Lilly, Ella, Samona and Tara, aged between 5 and 12.

… I instantly said OK

The family has started receiving donations from the public.

“We had a larger dining table donated to us, and a larger fridge”

The local community has praised the family, “The Ruffino family are the type of family who will help people in need, they are trying to make the girls feel a part of their family as much as possible”

The family has set up a page to receive donations to cover the costs of raising the girls. If you would like to donate, you can do it here

This tragic story has a silver lining, with the Ruffino family opening their arms to the orphaned children.
Would you be able to do this for someone you know?

  • So beautiful.
So pleased to see that the children stayed together, what a blessing for the children to still grow up together and in a loving and caring environment where their Mother’s memory will be fondly remembered.

  • What a wonderful gesture. We were asked by 2 of my sisters in law “if anything happens to me, will you look after my kids? You’re the only ones we trust to do a good job.” We said yes. The kids have now grown up and dont need us to step in as parents. It was nice to be asked tho
