Hello!

The country is in the middle of a crisis. But it’s not coronavirus…it’s a toilet paper shortage. Supermarkets all over Australia are displaying completely empty shelves amid the recent stockpiling frenzy of essentials.

Woolworths has responded to the craziness by implementing a purchase limit on toilet paper.

Until further notice, customers will be restricted to buying only four packs of toilet rolls in-store or online.

“Woolworths has today moved to apply a quantity limit on toilet paper packs to ensure more customers have access to the products,” the supermarket confirmed.

This decision “will help shore up stock levels as suppliers ramp up local production and deliveries in response to higher than usual demand.”

Other staples such as pasta, antibacterial wipes, and canned food have also been stripped off the shelves.

“Our teams are continuing to work hard on restocking stores with long-life food and groceries from our distribution centres,” Woolworths said.

Empty Supermarket Shelves

Our mums have shared concerning pics of empty supermarket shelves across the country as the buying frenzy continues.

Frustration!

Most people are baffled at the stockpiling mania.

“It’s insane! We couldn’t buy tissues yesterday! I don’t understand what people think will happen?! Like relax!” said one mum.

“The dumb thing is…we legit need toilet paper in our house right now! Am I going to be able to get any?” bemoaned another.

“I just went Costco and left straight away. No trolleys and lines at the registers were reaching the other side of the store and I’m not over exaggerating,” read another frustrated shopper.

Toilet Paper Makers Are The BIG Winners

Toilet paper manufacturer has said that it is opening up its manufacturing lines in South Australia to deal with shortages.

  • So funny. People are very strange creatures

  • Rations are important so more people get the chance to purchase

  • This article is dated 4th March. Here it is, 12th of April and there are still toilet paper restrictions. I had to choose between a pack of toilet rolls or wet bum wipes the other day, I couldn’t have both! And there was not a single bag of flour in the shelves! Get a grip Australia, please!

  • This is just ridiculous. I have two small children and cannot be there at opening time to fight with the other crazy people for toilet paper. I don’t want my baby in the middle of all of that. It’s unfair and embarrassing that we cannot buy essentials without pushing and shoving.
    So we go without again

  • This is becoming ridiculous
Check your local corner shops and service stations they might have

  • This is stupid and selfish. I feel sorry for the elderly who are finding it very difficult to buy some toilet paper. To those who want to stockpile this needs to re consider of others. Wouldn’t stocking up on food be a better idea.

  • I find these people who stock up like this completely selfish. My elderly mum who’s 92 and my elderly parent in laws who are in their late 80’s are having a hard time trying to find toilet paper. Luckily I went shopping and they had just brought in a load of paper so I got them both some. I still have plenty as we always have some on reserve (even when there is no toilet paper crisis) but my problem was finding period pads. I have 3 daughters who need them and they are disappearing off the shelves too. My hubby finally found some and brought the lot (6 packets) which will do them for the next month but lets hope this madness ceases soon.

  • I don’t know why people are buying up so big on toilet paper. Diarrhoea is not a symptom of the coronavirus. Wonder if it’s caused by those shoppers who buy big then sell to overseas customers?

  • I think we are down to our last few rolls so there better be some when I go shopping next

  • This is just stupid. If you’re going to stockpile then at least get something like hand wash. No need to stock pile toilet paper!

  • How crazy is this

  • I couldn’t find any toilet paper at my local Coles today. Quite annoying. I hope it will arrive soon.

    • I had the same issue at Coles and it is just ridiculous! Then I discovered tissues, fresh milk, pasta, hand wash and other items were out too! I had a friendly chat with a staff member and they have received verbal abuse because of low and no stock! This behaviour sickens and saddens me and I just hope that common sense prevails sooner rather than later!

      • You are so right. It’s so sad to see people buying so much and disrupting normal life. I think that’s also a reason why people are panicking even more!

  • Why is toilet paper considered a priority? I’d be more concerned about food, etc. There are other ways and means to wipe your backside. I think this behaviour is ridiculous and look forward to my grocery shopping tomorrow! I feel also for people who genuinely have run out of things and can’t get them because of panic buying. Just crazy.

  • I think people have gone insane and it sucks because you are left with not finding anything so if you do come across something you need you will buy a bit extra to ensure you have required items at home due to the craziness! We went to 6 different stores before finding toilet paper and this was just our regular shop not to stock up it was needed as we were running low!

  • I actually needed loo roll, as did my daughter (who works full time and had already been to Coles twice to try and get a pack) and I had to go out twice to get some for us both. People are nuts. I don’t get it. I started my shopping trip at Aldi where there were people putting 10 packs in their trolley along with numerous packs of paper towel and at least a dozen bags of rice…what the… Anyway, I went to Coles, no love there and when I asked if there was any coming later I was told the warehouse was out….gee, the craziness. Finally, Woolies, my last stop (I really only wanted two small packs for two households who actually needed it.) and still no joy. However, a very nice checkout chick told me that there was a truck coming later in the afternoon and that it definitely had loo roll on board….halleujah. After hubby and I taking our unwell dog to the vet, we swung by woolies again and yes, there it was. I got two four roll packs and paid and left. I did stuff the packs into an esky bag and zip it shut just in case I should be mugged for my loo roll in the car park….no really. I think people are expecting a zombie apocalypse or something. I wonder what they are going to do with 500 rolls of toilet paper, 60 rolls of paper towel, 40 kgs of rice, 60 packs of pasta, etc, when the crisis passes and they have to live with their foolishness. The government has already said that the longest you would be quarantined would be 14 days if you need to be and seriously, what are the odds that every single person that you know (who could possibly bring you something you needed if you were quarantined) would be quarantined at the same time? Very small chance of that I should think. Now, excuse me while I check my back porch for zombies….LOL.
