Hello!

You do it almost every day, so why not make a few extra dollars and help others at the same time?

If it’s brown, don’t flush it down, donate it instead! Poo transplants are essential for sufferers of a number of medical conditions, but with not enough donors coming forward, the Centre for Digestive Disease is now offering to pay for people who can produce healthy stools suitable for the treatment.

Providing The Good Stuff

Autism, multiple sclerosis and chronic diarrhoea are just some of the conditions where faecal transplants are being trialled as a potential treatment option. As reported by kidspot.com.au, to be eligible to be a donor, you need to fill out a form, have a simple blood test and provide three stool samples. You also need to be of a healthy weight, eat a variety of foods including pulses, prawns, and eliminate a number of others including corn and cured meats. Antibiotics are also a big no-no, as good bacteria are essential to the process, and you must live within an hour of the centre at Five Dock to ensure a timely deposit. No wonder they’re struggling to find suitable donors!

In all seriousness though, faecal transplants have the potential to be a life-changing treatment option for people with chronic and debilitating conditions. If you think you could be a suitable candidate for donation, it’s worth contacting the centre and finding out more about the process. Plus you can earn some extra cash for going about your daily business!

  • I would definitely consider it! I would even consider doing it without payment, if it will help someone improve their life

  • It’s a good way to help others. I’m not sure I’d qualify because of my diet.

  • That’s an interesting way to make a little income. Not sure I’d want to tell anyone though.

  • I doubt they’d want mine. I eat too much sugar and not enough vegetables.

  • I don’t have a problem donating it but the thing is how to do it and store it and deliver it to wherever needed

  • I have read about this before and it is a wonderful area of research and medicine. I have no issues with this type of donation. I have no issues with discussing poo or donating poo – if it benefits others – absolutely!

  • It’s funny to read all the comments. Why do we think poo is so gross ? It’s just the waste product of our food that passed our digestive system…

    • Yep – I have no issues with poo either – it is just a normal part of the whole body process.
