A nine-year-old boy is fighting for his life after he tripped and fell at school, suffering a serious injury.
Emergency crews arrived at Adelaide’s Sturt Street School around lunchtime yesterday after the student tripped and fell suffering a serious injury, 7 News Adelaide reports.
The medical team reportedly stabilised the boy and rushed him to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital where he is in a critical condition.
The Women’s and Children’s Hospital declined to comment on the boy’s progress at this stage.
Police including forensics officers and detectives have been at the school investigating throughout the afternoon.
They reportedly taped off a scetion of the school grounds where the boy fell, and were paying close attention to a park bench.
The Department of Education said it doesn’t believe any other child was involved in the incident, and that it was simply a “freak accident”, according to the Today Show.
In a letter sent home to parents, the school has offered counselling to staff and students as the boy continues to fight for his life.
