A five-year-old boy is fighting for life this morning after a car left the road and hit a tree near Warrnambool yesterday.

The silver Holden sedan was travelling along Wangoom-Warrumyea Road, Wangoom, when it crashed at the intersection of Adams Road about 3pm.

The 35-year-old female driver, understood to be the boy’s mother, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The boy was a passenger in the car and suffered life-threatening injuries. He remains in a critical condition this morning.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.

  • I hope they both make a speedy recovery. There has so many nasty accidents recently. The weather is a contributing factor for a lot of accidents at the moment.
