A YOUNG boy has sadly died after he fell from a swing set.

It is understood the four-year-old boy, who is reportedly from Brisbane, was playing on a homemade wooden swing set, at an Airbnb property near Maleny in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, with several other children when it toppled over on Saturday afternoon, reports Perth Now.

The young boy suffered serious head injuries and later died.

A seven-year-old also suffered minor injuries and was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition, a Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said.

The swing set has been seized by authorities and Workplace Health and Safety is investigating the tragic incident.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.

  • Why did they seize the swing? Was it potentially a future hazard? Aren’t all swing sets a hazard?

  • This is so tragic and sad. A child should always be supervised on a swing… but that doesn’t help anyone now.

  • With some soil conditions, objects put on it tilt with either soil movement because of weather conditions or the way they are placed in/ on the ground. It is a tragedy. Hopefully those involved in any way will receive appropriate advice and counselling
