Mum shares her disgust after teen daughter receives death threats over her same-sex marriage beliefs.

A mother of a 14-year-old girl has tweeted Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull after her daughter received death threats from a school friend’s father when she said she was in support of same-sex marriage.

The mother posted a screenshot of a Facebook exchange of dialogue on same-sex marriage that was followed by the threat by the man against her daughter, reports 7 news.

She then posted another tweet and wrote: “This is the level of civilised debate YOU have encouraged @TurnbullMalcolm… a parent feels emboldened enough to threaten a CHILD.”

The man had written to the woman’s daughter and said “Kk WTF?? I ain’t f****** playing no more, u now what I’m capable of b****. I am ******* father. Call me b4 I come n drop bombs. It’s my time to shine because straight up. U want me to come with a 9mm”.

The woman’s post quickly went viral, with many in disbelief that a father was allegedly threatening the girl.

Despite the woman claiming police initially “weren’t interested” in pursuing the threat, she later said: “Dubbo @nswpolice are well on top of the issue with the fb post and threat against my daughter. Keeping us updated. Cannot fault them.”

The mother made another post about the situation on Monday with a screenshot of a post from the man.

He wrote: “I’d love to square dance with anyone who has commented on me in the last two days. Where are ya b****, call me for your f****** time and place and I’ll show.”

This is beyond disgusting, I have no words!

How can a parent behave this way? What on earth.

  • It is one thing to gently share an opinion, and a totally different kettle of fish when it becomes disrespectful to others.

This takes it way beyond that. Threatening someone’s safety in our community is never okay. I hope that the full arm of the law protects this child and her family using whatever means necessary.

  • Disgusting behaviour for anyone, really .

  • Rants like this parent is making does no good to either side – everyone is entitled to an opinion, but this is over the top. Can’t wait for this whole subject to be over and done with. Don’t think there is a right or a wrong – it is just a mess.

  • This man is disgraceful and disrespectful, outrageous behavior.

  • I believe everyone is entitled to their opinion but nowadays it’s best to keep them to yourselves. How could this so called father say those things. I pity his family if this is what comes out of his mouth

  • people should keep quiet on their opinion either way instead of blasting it on the internet. this is a sensitive topic and of course is going to get a reaction

  • And this is why we need to hold Turnbull and the LNP accountable for causing such incidences when they could ahve just done their job and voted on the issue. By creating a public vote, they created public expressions of hate.

  • I’m a Christian and the kind of hate I am seeing go around is not how anyone should act, let alone Christians. I’m not going to preach a sermon but in all honesty the message of the bible is love and that God loves everyone including sinners. Yes, the bible teaches that relationships with the same sex is sinful, however, it also teaches that lying is sin, having lustful thoughts about anyone (even of the opposite sex) and even so much as having nasty thoughts about people. I really don’t know why people feel the need to grab hold of one thing and blow it up like it’s the end of the world when there are so many other sins that we sweep under the rug. Get over it! Learn to get along with others and respect everyone elses beliefs and then maybe there will be less fighting.
And just for the record, I am neutral. I don’t have a problem with anyone who is gay and I believe that they should be able to have the same rights as a married couple and be recognised as couples under the law. I do, however, think that churches should have a choice whether or not they want to marry a couple and wouldn’t want any church to be forced into doing something that is against the belief system because the law suddenly is recognising that as being discrimination.

  • I’m really concerned about the parent and feel you should be taking action against him. I don’t understand blaming the Government for the process and for people’s vitriol against others. It lets these people off lightly. Blame the parent, the adult who should never speak to anyone – let alone a child, that way.

  • There have been news of those who are voting NO that are being verbally abused and there are also news of those voting YES that are being verbally abused.

Just to remind everyone: “A bigot is a person who is intolerant towards those holding different opinions.”

With these in mind, I just want to say that whatever you decide to vote on is ok: voting YES is OK and voting NO is OK. This is just for the reason that it is your belief and opinion to vote either yes or no.

If you believe that same-sex marriage should be legalised, then vote YES.
If you believe that same-sex marriage should not be legalised, then vote NO.

Voting NO does not make you a bigot and at the same token, voting YES does not mean you are not a bigot.

  • It makes me sick they way people think they can behave on this issue. Regardless of which way you vote this is deeply affecting real people.

  • Regardless of where you personal views lie, there is absolutely no reason to argue the point unsolicited and absolutely no reason to threaten someone because they are having their say. Completely and utterly diabolical and hoping that the perpetrator is identified and dealt with accordingly!!

  • So stupid! Keyboard warrior!

  • Unbelievable !!
Concerning that the police initially “weren’t interested” in pursuing the threat ?!

  • This is absolutely abhorrent. The whole debate has turned very ugly. I have on purpose not disclosed which way I will be voting on FB and gone back to the old principle of not talking about who you vote for etc as many of our parents probably instilled in us growing up. Having seen the ugliness of this debate I can see the merit in what my parents used to say to me about never talking about who you vote for. I just find it perplexing that people who would normally have a wealth of things in common and are the best of friends under regular circumstances end up in ugly and pointless debates over such a personal decision. Like someone else said we live in a democracy and that means we should accept democracy in its entirety. To be fair I have seen very ugly remarks from the pro lobby as well. It is terrible that we live in an age where we are bullied out of having an opinion for fear of being unfairly labelled. Diversity is about everyone celebrating the uniqueness of each other. It should never be about one stream of thinking or what an individual or group of people deem acceptable or else get bullied. There is also so much propaganda and misinformation being spread around about the topic that it is becoming rather annoying. There are just so many flaws in the entire process. It would have been easier to include it at the ballot box as an additional thing along with your vote. Very strange that politicians seem to change their stance on the issue depending on whether we are coming up to an election or not.

    • The adverts are just awful and I am looking forward to seeing the end of them.

      • I love your answer and your choice not to let people know what you vote. Absurd that such a thing happens!!
