A young QLD mother has become the latest victim of a deadly flu season sweeping Australia.

After falling ill to the flu two weeks ago, Jacinta Foulds, 35, contracted a secondary infection and pneumonia, which led to her death, according to her husband Daniel Foulds.

Jacinta was a beautiful mum to her three children, Lily (11), Cory (9) & Indy (7).

“This is the hardest post I have ever had to do my world has been rocked tonight I said goodbye to my best-friend and soul mate taken from me way to soon,” Mr Foulds said in a post on his Facebook page.

“It’s a very tough moment so rather than fielding phone calls and message I’m putting it up so all my friends and family can see Jacinta Foulds, my beautiful wife, lost her fight as she was extremely sick with influenza A, as a result she caught a secondary infection as well as pneumonia.

“It was too much for body to handle, she fought hard all the way to the end as expected from Jacinta.”

Daniel added, “I’m really struggling and am trying to hold it together for my three kids. Jacinta Foulds taken to soon and forever in my heart and soul rip my true love.”

A Gofundme page has been setup to support the family at this difficult time.

Our thoughts are with Daniel and the children.

  • Very sad, but it was not the flu that killed her, it was the secondary infection because her immune system was so weak, it is so important to look after your immune system so it can deal with all the germs in the world.

  • Aw bless, very tragic !
Yes grieving the loss of your wife whilst having to be there for your kids who grieve the loss of their mum must be hard. But the shared grieve also can give comfort and a bond.
My thoughts and prayers go out to them.
    Stay healthy everyone !

  • This winter the flu has been terrible. Poor mum. And poor family that has to live without her. :-(

  • It must be so difficult coping with emotional children who are grieving too.
I know of a guy whose wife passed away. He was so emotional he just had to “let it out” a few days later. He waited until he knew his children were sound asleep, had a shower and “let it out” while the water was running. He felt a bit better and less stressed. He found it much easier to relax and help his children too

  • This is so tragic. I have a cold at the moment and this article reminded me not to take even the slightest cold lightly. My condolences to this lady’s husband, children, and family.
