Hello!

This is one of my first pieces of artwork. I’m now offically a full blown artist.

Enjoy, do different colours, different shapes. You’ll be amazed at what these dots can do!!

Material

  • Tooth picks or skewers.
  • Paints (Thick paint)
  • Canvas

Method

  1. Clean and dry canvas.
  2. Set paints up, choose colouring to your desire.
Create a story, paint anything you want
  3. Dip the skewer into paint, only the tip. Then press gently onto canvas board.
Continue until you get preferred pattern.

(Only call it Aboriginal dot painting if youre of Aboriginal decent. Otherwise, it is just a dot painting)

  • I did something similar to this on some ceramic pots and containers for our kitchen. But I did it in a blue and yellow theme. Really brightened the room up.

  • How long did the pictured painting take? Looks excellent. Thanks for sharing how you did it.

    • Our daughter has done these before and it’s not a quick process.

      • Hii 🙂
This one took me 2 days, probably 4 – 5 hours all up.

I love seeing kids learning how to do it.
I find it great to get my emotions out… Especially when i’m stressed or angry, my paintings come alive then 🙂

  • I have the paint and the canvas but wasn’t sure what to use to put the dots on. I was going to use a piece of stick but a toothpick sounds good more symmetrical. I must do this this winter.
    Thank You

  • Wontakalowa . This is lovely and you have done very well. My daughter made a clay platypus at school and painted it with dots, when she was younger and it still takes pride of place at our front door (as a door stopper). Wonderful activity for children to do. Thanks for sharing.
