10 lucky winners will receive a copy of The Drop-Off by Fiona Harris & Mike McLeish!

The Drop-Off is a hilarious look at the unlikely friendship between three parents who gossip, laugh, drink coffee and would rather keep to themselves at school drop off. A cross between Kitty Flanagan and Liane Moriarty, this is a novel that will make you laugh and cry while reminding us all of the redemptive power of friendship, community, forgiveness… and good coffee!

And it all begins at The Drop-Off.

Written by husband and wife team, Mike McLeish and Fiona Harris, The Drop-off is based on the award-winning, critically acclaimed web series of the same name.

  • The very first when my son cried his eyes out and grabbed my leg and didn’t want me to leave; but then the smile on his face when I picked him up in the afternoon. Unforgetable

  • I used to love on hot days my mum waiting at the school gates with an icy pole to eat on the walk home. I still remember clearly the happiness it created for me & my sister

  • Feeling extremely intimidated by all these older mothers I was freaking out, and felt out of place, by the time we got to week 3 of the first term we actually all caught up for a coffee prior to pickup and are grateful of their friendship and they also stated that they were all feeling intimidated on their child’s first day.

  • Our school drop offs are always filled with laughter ,tears and little fights amongst my 3 girls , the funniest was when we got to school only to realise we left all the school bags in our garage at home .. something that wasnt funny at the time but is something we joke about now

  • My childhood worst drop off was when my sister dropped me off to school in her car, I was running late rushed to get out of the car but didnt relise my periods went through my school uniform.

  • its not my wost memory but on my little sisters first full day of school i accidentally closed the car boot (not hard) on her head and she spent her first day of school in the first aid room. It was over 20 yrs ago and she still talks about it to this day

  • My worst memory was when it had been raining & my youngest was running. I said slow down, as her school gate is halfway down a hill. I sped up to catch up & slipped & fell on my butt. It was so embarrassing & I had a big wet patch!!

  • When i had to drop off my daughter to kindy with a newborn. Was a juggling act and i refused to take a pram as it was too much effort.

  • My best memory of school drop off is when I dropped my son off for the first day at school, seeing him confidently walk away from me into class. Proud mumma.

  • My daughter only just started school so don’t have one yet. Really want to right this book though ????????

  • The best memory is of my own mum dropping me off to daycare. I was so upset at first, sitting by the window waiting for her return. One day another little girl approached me and we started to play. Now, 20+ years later we’re still the best of friends!

  • the very nasty issues surrounding the car parks and drop off zones – too many stressed parents and annoyingly late children

  • Best memory is having kids old enough that I don’t have to deal with all that now ????

  • First day of Kindy 5 month pregnant size of a house!!! POURING with rain. Me and my son stacked it in the middle of the school crossing and then he accidentally stepped in the overflowing gutter In his brand new shoes leading to him having no shoes on for the whole day!!!!!

  • The very first day my child started school, all the mums looked as nervous as the kids, we all ended up having a chat and a laugh for an hour after drop off – such a supportive environment

  • My best memories are the smniling faves on all the childrens faces when they run out to find there parents and see them there. Melts my heart and the little friends of Miss 5 who always say hello to me.

  • Best days are the ones when I pick up my daughter by myself and she comes barelling towards me with such glee and excitement in her face.

  • When you waste a moment, you have killed it in a sense, squandering an irreplaceable opportunity. But when you use the moment properly, filling it with purpose and productivity, it lives on forever.

  • I have been on drop off duty, been chatting with my kids in the car and ended up heading straight to work without dropping them off. Easy to see Mums have alot going on in their heads, especially in mornings.

  • I have only just entered the first year of two school aged children, but my best memory was probably the day I dropped them both off for the first time.. they showed me just how well adjusted kids they are!
