I think you been need to have professional assistance in getting rid of the spiders. They will let you know what to expect. The spiders could be nesting in your roof, walls or under your house. You will likely need to stay somewhere for a few days.

I think I would ask the advice of a professional pest controller.

You can buy a spray & do your home yourself but it will require you to leave your house for a few hours.
Personally, with an infestation that bad I would go all out & get a professional in.
Even if you have to spend a night in a hotel, you can not put a price on yours & your childs safety.

Gosh how dreadful. I suggest you contact a professional pest control person to have your home treated. Also ensure there are no branches of trees touching your house, this may be how they are gaining entry. Gecko lizards will keep your home free of spiders but then you have their droppings to clean. green frogs are also great to have around, to gobble up insects etc. check with your local council, there may be some information from the Parks departments, you may just have a tree that these critters live as a place to breed. Huntsman are harmless and do keep other insects under control and the daddy long legs also harmless but they do create cob webs that you have to clear away. Oh the joys of living where we live!

Since posting an answer on here last week, I saw an add for the natural automatic mortein sprays that they say they guarantee will keep bus out for 30 days (or your money back). Might be worth a try!

Mabye you could get a relative or close friend to mind your baby at their place for the day or two, even better if you can go and stay there for the rest of the day, especially if breastfeeding. The only thing is, being able to leave a window open lets the smell escape quicker. Ask the exterminators to do it early in the day and explain why. None of you want the risk of suffering from breathing problems. Even low odour products smell.

That sounds a bit out of control. I’d get an exterminator in before someone is bitten by a whitetail. And you could then relax once they are gone. Do you have lots of trees right up to your windows and doors, because I am amazed at the spiders that come out of our trees at night. It’s really creepy and we have to avoid walking under our trees in the dark.

I have heard that mint or peppermint is a good deterrent for spiders. Depending on how old your little one is though, I’d suggest just checking that mint is fine for use around little ones. I have read that some aromatherapy oils should be avoided when babies are little but I’m not sure if mint is one of those.

Wow that sounds nasty!
I had my house sprayed inside and out last month and we didn’t have to go anywhere. I kept bub off the floor for a few hours then wiped down the surfaces he would touch.
The spray outside was safe for my dog to stay out there too.

if you have an infestation, call the pest control people, they will treat the house and after they have treated it and you are allowed back in, its safe for people and pets.

My neighbour had a terrible problem with spiders and had her house sprayed-inside/outside. She advised all of the neighbours as the wind may have carried some of the spray onto washing. It was incredibly considerate. Again; good luck and hope you get some peace soon; worry is not good.

Get a professional pest controller and explain the situation. He might suggest safer alternatives and a day trip so that you can come back and vacuum the dead ones up. I remember doing that a couple of years ago now.

You should get a exterminator around.
We did last year and at the time had a 3 month old.
You only need to leave the house for a few hours. Best to do on a warm day so the wet floors dry quicker. You may need to put your son in a porta cot or something until it’s completely dry.
It’s so effective. You won’t have one spidey or anything for at least a yr.
just make sure you move all furniture away from the walls so the bug guy can spray around the perimeter of every room. Bit of a pain, but very important to ensure maximum effectiveness.

Eucalyptus oil on a rag & wipe it over everywhere that the spiders are, architraves, corners & skirting boards. Seal any cracks in the walls & around windows so they have no way to get inside, some surface spray on the floor around the doors to the house will kill any that come in that way & should be out of reach for bubs. They also come in through the exhaust fans in the bathroom so give the covers a good clean if you can get them down & use either surface spray or eucalyptus oil again. I have heard that peppermint oil, vinegar or citrus also deters them but never tried it out myself.
These are more deterrents that actually killing them & it sounds like you need them dead so I would be getting a professional in to do it properly & then you can apply the natural methods afterwards if necessary. A professional will be able to advise you of the safest treatment so you & you family are not affected.

wow my worst nightmare! normally I’d recommend just using a bomb and also spraying all around the outside of the house, but with a little one around you’d be best to get on top of it straight away. call a professional. I’m pretty sure you would only need to leave for a few hours. good luck!
