  • I also like to google water parks nearby

  • We put our kids in an inflatable pool or take them out somewhere where there are sprinklers. They love it and never want to leave is the only problem!

  • Go for a swim, sprinkler on, aircon on and stay inside and play a game/do craft or so.

  • When it’s that hot, we are inside doing painting, craft activities, even a DVD here and there.

  • Well if it’s 45 degrees, we would be trying to get cool. We’d have cool batha. Also, a paddling pool in the shade can be nice.

  • Stay indoors and let child play with their toys or do crafts. Keep cool playing in the bath or a paddling pool in the shade.

  • Hmmm, was going to suggest water games in the shade. But 45 degrees !!!! Wow! Is it possible to have water games inside somewhere?

  • play in the bath tub!

  • This is always an opportunity to veg out and do nothing, I always allowed unlimited computer games, tv, made cool snacks, some did craft and colouring in at the dining table, encouraged them to find a quiet spot to read, and in the evening we would go to the local pool, or if it came in cooler go for a walk, but we would always make it a time out day, this is great as long as it does not stretch on for days. My kids always enjoyed it, and I would find that they would get up early and tend to have a nap in the afternoon, just a matter of getting through the heat, I did not put them under any stress for chores or nag them for mess as there is plenty of time when it cools down and when it is hot it is to easy for tempers to get frayed,

  • We tend to stay indoors during the hot morning and afternoon doing craft, painting or watching movies. The kids usually go off for a swim later in the afternoon and lounge about till dinner time.

  • i try to get them to have cool baths, set up a little splash pool, ice-blocks, milkshakes, smoothies, cold fruit salad, sprinkler,air-con at home or out and about, cinemas, shopping, and best of all- water bombs and water pistol fights lol

  • Cold baths with ice in the water. Also make fruit ice blocks

  • make ice blocks inside or milkshakes – some kind of chilled cooking that the kids can get involved in

  • Stay indoors and play games of cards!!

  • have an icypole picinic under the sprinkler or sitting in a wading pool its good fun..put bubble mixture in a small pool, smiles on faces are worth it

  • there are some good comments here

  • play with water or draw and play inside

  • run under the sprinkler as we dont have a pool, i also put food colouring in the bath and they have a great time. also i freeze grapes and pineapple in bags

  • Get some spray bottles and let the kids spray each other. It will obviously dry due to the heat, but keeps them cool at the same time!

  • A nice cold bath for the kids and let them have as many bath toys as they want – this will keep them occupied for a while. Our little man loves it!
