Hello!

How has your teen coped with bad acne? We’ve been on antibiotics and seeing a dermatologist who was all for trying the pill on my 14 yr old daughter but now has changed his mind as he’s worried about her fertility in the future. Has anyone had success using LED light treatments or microdermabrasion either in a boy or girl?

  • I will ask my daughter to give the tissue salts a try. Thank you for the suggestion.

  • We’ve tried many natural remedies like witchhazel, tea tree oil, salt water baths etc but my daughter’s acne is still ongoing. She eats healthy food, drinks plenty of water etc. We too would like to find a solution.

  • Clean eating. Basic food with no addetives and proactive! As others have said even a natropath can help! Goodluck

  • What about the creams drs can prescribe? Also maybe try an alternative therapy like a naturopath.

  • I have found tissue salts (Combination D from Martin and Pleasance) to be very effective in improving skin conditions, without any nasty side effects. It is also a really cost effective option.

Readily available from chemists. It can be purchased as tablets or as an oral spray. It is worth trying before you go for any other invasive options. Give it a few weeks for the results to show.

  • have you tried facials? once a week for 2 months saw huge improvements in my teen

  • good diet and acne products especially toner and cleanser, it is age thing and hormones play big part in this condition.Check at health stores also and look up on net for good real products..no good my saying it will go away it will but not ok when you are going through it .Especially cleandliness no pickin or introducing more germs into the ara. I wish her all the best and blemish free. There are products for teenage skin at chemists so check them out

  • I had the healthy diet plan for years, made no difference to my acne. A face washer isn’t recommended for washing faces either as it harbours bacteria. My problem was simply over active oil glands. Which the Roaccutane completely shuts down

  • Have you thought about seeing a dermatologist?

  • just a thought, have you changed ur daughter’s diet?
if your on Instagram, follow this lady who used to have bad acne only able to get rid of it by changing her diet. I know heaps of people who did raw food or juice or cutting out sugar, mainly is what I’m seeing is cutting out all process sugar and eating healthy has been the main thing.
lady I’m following is sage.wellness there is a photo of the lady who had a before photo of bad acne.

my son is 9, hes getting pimples already, seems to get red spots too or some rough spots on his forehead, behind his arms. if I cut out honey, jam, lollies (given by his friends nearly every day 2 weeks) process food, that are already playing up on his face, his face will start to clear up again following water after water to wash it out too. I make sure he washes his face every morning and night with a face washer. no soap needed. I dread the days when he becomes a teenager and acne appears. what I have noticed is the process food that is happening in his body.
ive never had ance problems, I only get pimples on my chin or on the side of my nose if I eat chocolate, sugary food. my face plays up if I eat too much pineapple…..I wash my face every morning and nite with a face washer and water. I’m 33, get asked if I’m in my early 20’s…. I do see how food plays a big different in our bodies…..thought il write this but who knows I may be wrong and you may have tried it.
wish your daughter all the best.. not a good thing to have growing up with.

  • I would be totally looking a diet.
Eat clean and she’ll soon see the difference.

  • I get acne when my diet is bad. As a teenager it was terrible. When I say bad I dont mean mcdonalds. I mean ANYTHING like if I have a can of coke I have an outbreak the next day. I also find if i drink too much cows milk the same thing happens. I have to wonder if some people are just chemically sensitive and our skin starts spewing everything out. it certainly feels like it. Im 32 years old and I STILL get pimples everywhere. Particularly at “that time”

Long story short maybe not now but when shes older encourage her to cut sugar and introduce things like Chia and green tea drinks (i promise im not a health nut. I gorge on coles cinnamon donuts ALL the time…and i pay for it) but the antioxidants def help clear my skin up.

  • My daughter has mild acne and uses tea tree oil, although it doesn’t appear to do much. The Listerine comment is interesting – I’ll get her to try it and see what happens.

  • good pure soap after using hot water on the area rinse well then 4711 original eau de cologne on clean skin a few times a week (dab the cologne on with cotton wool) it works wonders

  • I had shocking cystic acne as a teen, I tried everything under the sun, nothing worked long term. I did an 8 month course of Roaccutane and have had great skin ever since. There’s been some negative publicity about Roaccutane, it’s not for everyone, but it worked for me without any issues. Another option, which I saw on here, is Listerine…..the original one. Dip a cotton ball into it and dab on your face. The person who posted it says it works well, I haven’t tried it for myself do can’t say one way or the other. Worth a shot tho

  • I suffered bad acne as a teenager and used antibiotics and the pill which helped. Don’t have too hot showers as it makes it worse. I also used oxy10 acne cream
