Hello!

My baby is the only baby I have ever known to have serious sleep issues no Drs or peads will help me my husband and I are loosing it. My baby just cries and screams all night he fights sleep to the extent that he will refuse to sleep. We have tried everything from sleep school to taking drives in the car. He will only sleep for about 15 mins then wake crying screaming. We have tried the cot he will not sleep in it. Has anyone else been through this and how did you fix it please.

  • If you think your child is experiencing an undiagnosed illness or allergy, push your doctor to take your concerns seriously. It could be the key to both you and your baby getting some much needed rest. In some cases your GP may refer you to see a pediatrician

  • My first baby was a shocker at sleeping too. You don’t mention your baby’s age. It’s often worse when they’re younger, and worse still when you are suffering sleep deprivation

  • Our first baby had terrible sleep issues. We went to sleep school and things were great for a month and then they got worse. He might just want to sleep with you. If he does, go for it. Try reading Pink McKay or The No Cry Sleep Solution.

  • he might just want you! try that co-sleeper bed thing that you can buy for babies

  • screaming hysterically doesn’t sound right. poor thing. and poor you guys! sound like you have tried everything. my baby is 6 months and still wot sleep in his cot. we have a cradle swing which loves. also a love to dream swaddle bag and music is good. theres a thing called the baby shusher which you could try. otherwise, mine (bf baby) loves co sleeping.

  • Sound like you are at your wits end. Can you post how old bub is on this page as this helps with the answers when people can relate to your problem. My second child like to be with me 24/7. I bought a baby pouch and had her in that for most of the day. Where I went she went. Then in the evenings she slept in my bed cuddled up to me. If baby is over 5 months look at what food you are feeding him/her. A nice bath with some lavender oil and a little cereal and a bottle of milk in a dimly lit room gives a nice calm environment for baby to relax.(No TV or Music playing) If you have family around you ask for help here as if you are stressed when it comes to bed time baby will sense this and play up. Hope this helps..

  • Lots of babies have sleep issues but I think most parents are embarrassed to admit it. There are many reasons why babies don’t sleep well at different stages. How old is your baby? If it is a newborn it may be colic or overstimulation, or not being wrapped. It could even be that the baby likes extra cuddles and being held, which is ok. If the baby is older it could be hot or uncomfortable (some babies are sensitive to temperature), or even low in iron. Lack of iron causes sleep disruption and behavioural problems. A blood test can confirm this. I experienced terrible sleep patterns in my 4th child and it really shook my confidence. Didn’t help that I was extremely low in iron too (explained the utter exhaustion – I thought it was just from no sleep). Once my baby started taking supplements his sleep got better.
Trust your instincts and you will be fine.

  • Have you tried calling a sleep school such as Ngala?
