  • NRMA. They are helpful and have many trusted repairer around. No hidden fees

  • I am with Virgin insurance and i love them. They offer Roadside assistance for $69.95 a year!!!! Amazing!!!! I have had to call them a few times before i changed my car battery and my monthly premiums go down every year. Winning!!!!
I can’t stand RAC because the first time my car ran out of battery i checked their website and it said you could call them out but would have to pay a call out fee. I rang and they wanted to charge me $600 to join so i told them to stuff it…
But shop around and see what’s best for you.

  • We have just changed over to YOUI. Given I am a stay at home mum, my car pretty much lives in the driveway, and only ventures out to the shops, swimming lessons, ballet etc. We got a big discount for the fact that it was parked securely during the day. Also, we found that if we had multiple policies (mine & my husband’s car, the house insurance etc) we got an even greater discount purely for having it all with them. You then get a loyalty discount as well when renewing depending on how long you have been with them, if you have claimed etc etc etc. We are really happy so far as we have saved heaps on our monthly premiums.

  • I’ve always been with aami on,y had one accident and they were great to deal with but have noticed the price is going up every year :(

  • I’ve decided to go with the RAC as they offer a great deal and lots of member benefits and also have an office close by I can go in to and see someone face-to-face.

  • I for insurability with raa .. They are reliable .. Competitive in price and give you huge discounts on combining house and other policy’s .. My daughters write off my car 5 years ago and there was no HASSEL with the claim .. Highly reccommended

  • All I can say is shop around and check the fine print!

  • We just recently switched our car insurance over to Coles and the price difference was great. It was 150 cheaper than our old insurer with less excess. It was very easy to take out a policy and quick, hassle free. Luckily we haven’t had to deal with for a claim so I can’t really comment on what they’re like to deal with but I would imagine that being backed by a big company it wouldn’t be any trouble

  • Honestly depends on the car and your location. They all vary so much! We found Youi the cheapest by far for our Subaru, then changed to a Mazda 3 and they were mega expensive so we went with AAMI. You need to do your research.

  • I appreciate all of your replies

  • I am with AAMI, had no issues with claim etc. However few of my friend have car insure with Commonwealth Bank and says that they are the best. Worth checking…..

  • I will be following this with interest as we have just added my teen learner driver son to our policy and had a HUGE increase (I was expecting some but this is too much!) so we are looking for a new insurance company for all our insurance.

  • I use http://kentame.com.au. Having a off road vehicle and caravan I have halved the cost.
    Don’t know if it helps.

  • I have been with Virgin Insurance for 5 years. Every year i don’t make a claim, my monthly installments go down. We pay $70 a year for roadside assistance. I love it

  • We have both our cars insured with Westpac. They were cheaper than RACV, and included more extra in their package, like car seats etc.

  • We are with RACV and it works for us.

  • We were with RACV but changed to Coles insurance

  • Oh, I have had the best luck with Comminsure – and I don’t even bank with them. Their insurances are really good, and quotes come in cheaper. They will even negotiate if their price isn’t the best. I had to claim once, and the first question they asked me is if I was ok. Just brilliant

  • W e have always been with the RAC and have been very happy.

  • My preference is NRMA. They are so affordable for starters. Easy to get hold of and talk to on the phone. After an accident, they’re quick to act on your claim. You don’t need to list other drivers, everyone who has permission to drive your car is covered. And insurance for learners and p platers is by far the cheapest out there. I highly recommend them
