Hello!

I would like to start grocery shopping online and would appreciate tips and advice on how to go about it.

  • Before I relocated I used to do all my grocery shopping on line. I chose Coles as they charged less for delivery. The produce was always of high quality. Place your order to be delivered in the least costly time frame. Plan ahead, so you know what you need. You can make adjustments to your order until about 24 hours before it is finalised. You need to be at home to accept your order and this will be within about a four hour window. Check that everything is present, tick off as you pack away. Errors do happen occasionally. One time I had accidentally double ordered, they were very helpful in allowing the items to be returned and I was refunded. I knew immediately as the delivery was so large. The delivery man had both orders printed, so it was quickly corrected. Another time I had a package of items I did not order, I am vegan and meat was in the package, I phoned the store and was told it would have already been re delivered to the correct customer and so I asked if they wanted mento return to the store the following day and this was declined, I was told to keep or give away as it could not be resold. My neighbours welcomed the items.

  • The best thing you can do is do your research first. Compare prices on the items you normally buy. Are you after organic products or just the normal ones? I have tried a couple of websites that helped me when I need some items I normally use for my everyday tasks. Here are my lists…CHARLIE’S FRUIT MARKET sells organic and non-organic products and can be delivered the day after as long as you order it before a specified time that day. They are very helpful also over the phone when you have questions. DAINTREE ORGANICS are good as well but can be pricey because of the organic products they are selling. Delivery days are twice a week. Check their website for further details. The only negative I can say is when I ordered a banana it wasn’t ripe. I was a bit upset cos I wanted to eat one when I received my box of goods. And the one I normally order quite a few times is the BAUER ORGANICS FARM. They only sell organic vegetables eg carrots, celery, potatoes etc. It’s a bit limited but the best so far I have tasted from other organic products. And unfortunately, their home delivery is close for now. And lastly, I have tried the GROCERY RUN website where you can buy cheap grocery products cheaply cos you’re buying them in bulk. With the COLES and WOOLWORTHS site I haven’t tried them yet.

  • Oh and although I’m a Coles girl, the Woolworths website is a lot more user friendly.

  • Do it on a PC. It is a pain in the butt doing it from a mobile ph.
Save all your favourites or regular items so that you don’t need to search for them everytime you shop.
Check the specials category first… we all love a bargain!

  • I found the first time a bit confusing but once you get used to it – and have previous lists (you can same lists) and orders to use it becomes easy. They remind you of itmes you may have forgotten that you’ve previously purchased which I found handy after the first time. There are often discount codes or free delivery (Coles deliver free on Wednesday’s) but you have to get in quick. You could try both Coles and Woolies and see which is the best fit for you!

  • I’ve been thinking about doing this too but just haven’t done it as worried about not being there when they deliver. Does anyone know if you can select a time and are they on time?

  • If you want to shop with coles or woolworths you have to be within their delivery area first. check out both of their websites and sign up for both as you can get the first 5 shops delivered free normally. also coles offers a free delivery day every week so check that out too. It does make it better if you can avoid the delivery costs! I found it easier to keep within budget as you don’t get sucked into impulse buys

  • It is quite easy. Juts follow the prompts on there websites.
They normally have a contact phone number if you require any support.

  • Join up to the supermarket of your choice. I use Woolworths as I find it easier to navigate around the website, they save your previously purchased items in a list so all you need to do for repeat shopping is click on the items you want, and you can buy from their catalogue.
