Hello!

“Hi I was just wondering if I could get some advice & I guess it is a question I am a mummy to 2 beautiful babies I suffer from Pnd & get severe anxiety attacks & don’t want to leave the house , I was just wondering if there was any other mums out there who could relate & wondered if they had any advice on how to get rid of an anxiety attack fast as the advice given from doctors don’t seem to be helping .
I know it’s usually a taboo subject but thought could be no harm in asking & scares the crap out of me admitting above to such a large number of people”

  • I have good and bad days with my Anxiety. I’ve taught myself ways to get around it so noone can see it.. I can usually feel it coming on and I usually distance myself from people and get myself together. Breathing techniques can help or trying to keep your mind busy it’s hard I know but I won’t let it consume my life

  • I’m so sorry that you’re going through this. Please know you’re not alone. The one thing I can think of is a technique called ‘grounding’ and it’s bringing your attention to something external such as the feel of the ground beneath your feet, the wind on your face or even the feel of a stuffed animal and focusing your attention on that. Good luck mama

  • I’ve heard that doing something to centre yourself helps. So you find 5 things you can see, 4 things you can hear, 3 things you can feel, 2 things you can smell and that can help centre you again.

  • I hear you.

This is what I have found that helps.
Describe 5 things you can see
Identify 4 things that you can feel
List 3 things you can hear
Note 2 things you can smell
Declare 1 thing that is good about yourself…..
Remember it is not a race….. take a deep breath between each one. It will take the focus of the anxiety you are feeling as you are focusing on something els.e

  • I was told to shift my focus. Pick a colour and find things in your surrounds that are that colour. No stress if you can’t find anything in that colour, just pick another colour and try again

  • I suffer from Anxiety too and had trouble leaving the house. I ended up having hypnotherapy and found some tools that really helped me. Am I over it……not by a long shot, but I find that if I keep practicing the tools given to me by the hypnotherapist I can go long bouts without feeling anxious and getting on with day to day life. I’ve also found meditation and breathing exercises are also beneficial and I feel a lot better and am less like to suffer an “attack” if I’ve been doing them.

  • You need to learn some relaxation techniques. If you don’t want to see a Dr, have a look on Google, you’re bound to find something to help

  • Yes! maybe go see your doctor first!

  • Counting slowly in situations where you feel your anxiety is escilating, focusing on your breath and keeping it inline with the slow counting, meditation and yoga might help. I’d practice meditation at home with a cd before going to a group. Good luck I jopemit all worked out for you

  • I can definitely relate but struggle really bad so I’m always depending on my medication. I hate it. Anxiety, depression, panic attacks, uncontrollable moods ect has ruined so much of my life.

  • Hopefully you have realised now that you are not alone and are just like many other women dealing with our own problems, I believe you have taken the hardest and most powerful step forward in admit you have a problem and seeking help for this! best of luck!

  • This is an old post, however I hope you found the help you needed.

  • You need to listen to the doctors. First get to gp and get on some medication. then you will be sent to conunselling. one step at a time.

  • I have never suffered this, it must be hard for you

  • I would speak to the Dr first. They will refer you to the right specialist or support groups in your area.

  • maybe go see your doctor first

  • you need to get to your gp first get on some meds then go to councilling and share with a friend that can help you

  • Have you ever tried any meditation techniques

  • Has any of the advice below helped?

  • Look for a support group, I would think there would be one online, and you can then discuss with other people who also suffer anxiety attacks.
