  • I bought one some years ago and planted against a wall. I had mine not fully in the sun and cut it back regularly. When it became bigger I placed a wooden plant rack on the wall to lead the plant. Within 2 years it bared many lovely fruits.

  • lots of great answer here… i hope you have an abundance of fruit

  • set up somewhere it can climb like the back fence, I’ve been told it does better in the colder climates.

  • I’d also like to know as I’ve tried several times with no success. Thank you

  • And now i am going to plant one of my own, interesting!!

  • Some great tips here thanks.

  • No I dont know how to grow one, but have read the comments, which are very helpful and will be planting one when I get my own place.

  • ours grew like wildfire and was on the shaded side of the house, it got some morning sun and that was it,

  • my nanna just planted hers, watered it and it grew well

  • full sun, space to climb and food should keep it going strong.

  • it will look after itself, just put in in the ground and watch it grow, it doesn’t need full sun but needs a fence or trellis to grow over

  • nice sunny warm place and a place where it can climb

  • Was told by a qualified gardener to dig a largish hole and place liver or lambs fry in the bottom and then passionfruit on top of this. Worked for me.

  • We had ours initially in a shady spot and it hardly grew, moved it to a sunny spot and it took off,

  • your local garden centre will be able to help you on care for it.

  • Somewhere it can climb, ours pretty much looks after itself, and the passionfruits taste great :)

  • Somewhere it can climb and easy for you to manage and pick the fruit when the time comes.

  • We had a passionfruit vine over our pergola which provided shade in summer & gorgeous fruit on hand! The flower was exotic also!

  • Sunny position in the garden, against a wall or fence, with a trellis or similar for the vine to grow up. Passionfruit plants grow really well, as long as they’re protected against severe frosts. Also, when you’re looking for somewhere to put the plant in the garden, don’t put it in a garden bed with other plants, as the passionfruit has a lot of “runner” shoots that will come up all through the garden bed, and they can take over other plants.

  • The only thing I know about passion fruit is to not let frost get to them.
