Hello!

My little one was diagnosed with stridor “floppy larynx causing noise to occur when breathing” at approx. 2 months. She couldn’t sleep on her back as the saliva that was produced wouldn’t drain properly and this would cause her to choke, her epiglottis was also smaller than average. when she had reflux the minute she burped her whole meal would come up. The breathing sound cleared up after 8months but she still continues to choke on absolutely anything including saliva, her gag reflex is highly sensitive, and when she burps, coughs excessively and/or chokes she throws up. It has reached a point where its like she tries to cough to burp and then throws up, I have to calm her down before it gets to that point. She is now 18months. We are seeing the ENT in a few weeks but I am curious to know if anyone else has been in a similar situation and how did you handle it? Thank you in advance.

  • Btw many speech therapists see children with feeding problems too

  • That’s a good indication to see ENT indeed. What was their course of action ?

  • Oh I don’t have any advice sorry but I just wanted to say how awful and what a great job you are doing. Hopefully something can be done.
