Hello!

My Bub is 6 months and doesn’t look like she will crawl for a while. We do tummy time but she only leans on her arms for a little bit and then spends the whole time doing a great flying impression with her arms back beside her body wiggling around. Just curious to see what ages everyone’s bub started to crawl.

  • My son started crawling at 6 months, but he has been a busy boy right from the get go. I have heard girls can start a bit later just because they’re happier to take in their surroundings :)

  • All four of mine were different. One crawled fairly early , two did a commando type crawl/shuffle for ages and the last pretty much never crawled at all – she was too interested in walking. Babies all do things in their own time but if you’re ever worried always speak to your child health nurse or GP.

  • I think it was at about six months of age.

  • My daughter started crawling at 7 months, but my niece, whos is 5 weeks older than my daughter, is doing more of a commando crawl than a regular crawl and started doing this after my daughter started crawling.

  • My two kids started crawling before they turned one ( I think approx. 10 months ) and it is just a matter of being patient . They start going on their tummys and they will actually roll over themselves. It is really fun to watch and I believe kids have great determination when they are young and they will do it quicker when you least expect it .

  • They all start at different times, I think mine started at 9 months.

  • yeah around this age but i know some babies who will take longer. It is up to the baby lol

  • I have twins, and my little boy started army crawling at 8 months then proper crawling a few weeks later. My little girl didnt start army crawling on her belly until 10 months (and even then she would only go backwards or
Sideways!) She has only just started crawling on her hands and needs a week ago, and she is now 13months.

  • mine only started at about 8 months but it was more like wriggling on the floor. But once she understood the concept of proper crawling, it only took her a day to perfect it after like 1 or so month of wriggling haha.

  • My four were between 5 months and 8 months. Two crawled properly, the other two had their own style (one bottom shuffled, one used a knee and foot). They started walking between 11 and 14 months.

  • All kids are different I have 4 kids an they all started at different times my oldest started at 6months then my next was 8 months same as the 3rd an my 4th was months..

  • mine were 5 /2 months and 7 months, but they all do these things in their own time. Just keep up the tummy time and maybe place toys just out of reach to encourage them to reach for them.

  • Around nine months for them all to crawl

  • Sounds pretty normal – the blue book has a guide in there for what they ‘may ‘ be doing at certain ages. Mine bum shuffled and got everywhere she wanted to. People said she’d go straight to walking but to prove them all wrong she started crawling first. She did lots of planking, commando crawling and backwards crawling too, which was frustrating as she’d end up further and further away from whatever it was she was trying to get to (apparently they go backwards before forward! ). From memory at 6mths they are only just sitting up unsupported. Life gets harder when they are on the move

  • Between 6 and 7 months for all 3 of mine. They all do it at their own pace.

  • Our son started crawling at 9 months and walking at 11 months.

  • My 2 sons did not sit up until they were 10 months old and well over 12 months before they crawled and both walked at about 16 months old. They are all different and can’t be forced to do what they aren’t ready for. Patience please and just enjoy your child.

  • All my kids started crawling at 6 months old but my third child would cry commando crawl at 6 months and didn’t start crawling properly tell him 8 months. But I do know other children who don’t crawl but grow to just start walking every baby different

  • I took my four month old to a physio today and got some tips to strengthen the muscles ready for crawling. Depending on your budget, might be worth making an appointment for some great advice.

  • Sounds like she’s doing a great job at building those tummy muscles for crawling. My bub started to show signs at 6 months of trying to crawl and now can at 9 months. My friends baby didn’t roll until 8/9 months and crawled at like 1. He progressed pretty quick once he did crawl but just took his time starting. You’re little one sound on track if she’s having good arm wiggles, it’s all part of muscle development.
