  • I try and do all the right things but the weight just doesn’t shift. Very frustrating but I’ll keep trying.

  • A few years ago I wanted to be healthier so started by jumping ten times a day. As I got fitter I started using a skipping rope too. I walked and continued jumping when I thought about it. Only takes a few seconds to jump 10 times. Before I knew it I was really fit and healthy.

  • give yourself permission to eat what you want, then choose not to eat it. Mentally it works for me

  • straight up healthy diet and exercise. Don’t believe the hype about weight loss products. You have to burn more kilojoules than you take in to lose weight.

  • Thank you, every opinion counts! I have really reduced in weight since i started practicing drinking much water and walking too!

  • Exercise and healthy, clean eating. Nothing better.

  • Thank you Jeanny, I love everyone of you contribution, hope it works for the tommy too!

  • The simplest way to slim down is to move – any way, any time you can. The more you move the more your muscles work and the more kj’s you use.

  • I have started the footing exercise, I think I shall add water to it now. I need to cut the Tommy which is my greatest worry!

  • Also; drink plenty of water which is good for your system.

  • Exercise and healthy eating is the way to go for long term weight loss success.

  • Counting calories works for me. You barely have to do much exercise but 30 mins walking or riding a bike. You must ensure you don’t cut your calories too much or the weight won’t shift.

  • Thank you i have taken note and will start walking as two of you have advised.

  • Walking really is great and its free! If you haven’t been very active, start off slow and increase the length of your walk a bit at a time. If you walk regularly, and look after your diet, you will lose weight. Walking with a friend will get you motivated. Good luck.

  • A big thank you to you all, indeed your opinion is what I have long longed for, so just know that you have been of great help to me.

  • I highly recommend the Sugar smart diet (book is available from supermarkets and newsagents). It takes you on a step down from sugar and then gradually reintroduces it to a healthy quantity in your diet. The recipes are great and it’s not difficult to follow. It also goes into the science behind why too much sugar and sugar ‘mimics’ are not good for your body – beyond more than just weight. All the best.

  • I find that if I avoid carbs of any sort (pasta, bread, potatoes, rice, etc) after lunch I slowly lose weight. I have no probs with carbs for breakfast and with lunch, but I have just meat and salad or veggies for dinner.

  • I cut out all bread, including bakery treats ( : and fizzy drinks. It was literally slimming with in a month. Stick to that religiously.

  • My doctor said just walk. Take a 20 minute walk every day 10 minutes one way and 10 minutes back. Build it up to a 30 minute then a 40 minute then a hour. Doctor said it’s more that we don’t walk so much any more. My husband has halved his body weight in a year walking. He does eat Oats every day and is on the 5:2 diet. No strict though.

  • It really depends on how much weight you have to lose. If you only have a little to lose meal replacement diets like tony ferguson andhe aldi shakesamd herbal life are great. I lost 10 kegs on the type of diet. My mum who us much heavier found it difficult to keep going on that diet as it does become quite boring and restrictive. She had great success on lite and easy program
