speak to your doctor about your situation. i know my GP chooses to bulk bill for some patients but not for others. I know that she bulk bills me and my family, but my friends who see the same dr have to pay for their appointments.

It’s a sad situation for many. Speak to your doctor about in case they can help.

My GP was the same but they still offer bulk billing for telehealth, you only pay if you have a face to face. Maybe they will consider doing something similar. Here in WA, we are finding less and less bulk billing GP’s. I would have a chat to your doctor and see if there is anything they can do to assist you. Good luck

There’s new and amended MBS items available from 1 November 2023. An additional indexation of 0.5% has been applied to some service items. 13 new Bulk Bill Incentives (BBI) items have been added for Commonwealth concession card holders and patients under 16

Maybe a discussion with a GP; often they can be supportive and provide options and information about services.

Unfortunately, I heard a news report about less bulk billing happening in our area too. Maybe ask community health in your area for options?

Unfortunately our health system is under a lot of pressure, and I think a lot of doctor’s are heading this way. I’d look into whether you might be eligible for a health care card, or speak to your doctor about whether they might bulk bill if you go back for the same issue (e.g. you pay the first time you go about an issue, but any follow ups are bulk billed). My doctor does this, and it helps.
