Hello!

My almost 5 month old is waking up anywhere between 2-4am for a nightly feed (which I’m fine with) but then between 4.30am & 5.30am is waking up again for not apparent reason & will stay up for about 30-45 mins then go back to sleep for about 30mins to 1 hour & is then up for the day. This is leaving me with very little/broken sleep & I also have a 2 year old to look after too. Any hints on how to stop him from waking up / help him sleep through that second wake up? I never had these issues with my DD as she slept through the night from 4.5 months.

  • No actual tips but my son was doing the same thing and unfortunately it just seemed to get worse! By the end I was only getting 2hrs sleep at night I so exhausted I had no energy to try to change it by myself, I ended up going to sleep school! It was the most amazing (hard but worth it) experience, and now he is able to self settle and sleep really well, on his off days I have the energy AND confidence to settle him back to sleep!! Good luck with everything and I hope you find something that works really soon!

  • Try putting him to bed alittle later at night

  • Aww I hope sleeping patterns change soon

  • Maybe stay up that little bit longer when he first wakes and is fed and I hope it changes

  • there are some good comments here

  • hope you got what you needed :)

  • the book save our sleep is a good one for helping babies get onto a routine and help them improve there day and night sleeps

  • Hope some of the advice below has helped.

  • How is he going now? Any luck with getting him to sleep longer?

  • I hope its going good :)

  • how did it go? :)

  • we tried Sweet Dreams formula which helped ours sleep a little longer as they had a fuller tummy

  • I wish you all the best and hope some advice below helps.

  • My little one is in our bed and a dummy will usually keep her happy if she wakes in the early morning. I always offer the breast if she wants it but it seems most often she is just after a cuddle!

  • try reading the book “save our sleep” it helped us get into a routine and despite my 2yo going backwards, from 6weeks old slept all night 7pm-8am. goodluck

  • Introducing solids could help you with this problem

  • your baby might be cold or hungry, good luck and I hope you find your answers that your looking for

  • id start introducing solids and making the last feed later then you are now

  • Your baby is still only 5 months old so still may need the early morning feed. Try to make this feed later if you can, and start introducing some solids. Good luck as you have found all babies are different.

  • Make the feeds shorter and then cut it out all together
