I’m not in favour of giving tea to my bub..but just out of curiosity and concern, I’d like to know if these beverages are ok for bubs, in small quantities?
You haven’t mentioned the age of your bub. If they’re under 12 months then the recommendation is water and breastmilk and/or baby formula only. From 12 months onward you can introduce other foods and drinks but it is wise to stick to milk and water for as long as possible. Having said that, my almost 3 year old likes to have a few sips of my tea each morning but I make sure that it’s the tiniest bit and I didn’t let him do this until well after his second birthday.
Your GP or community nurse can also give you fact sheets and information on caffeine and other foods and drink that are suitable and not suitable for babies.
I would not recommend giving tea which contains caffeine to a baby as it can cause jitters and stomach upset and many other problems. I would have a good look at the side effects of caffeine.
