You Tube video? Pretty sure we never needed to cut my dogs nails when I was a kid,.. they got to go outside a lot and seemed to wear naturally … but I guess puppies might be different

Definitely get a vet or vet nurse to show you how
As the experience will set your pup up for life so best to make it a positive one

Take the dog to tge vets and let the vet do it especially if they have black nails beause if you cut to far down you could make them bleed and get infections.

I suggest you get a vet to do it the first time and ask him/her to explain how to do it. You could have a situation where nails need to be clipped when a vet’s surgery is closed. (you want to be able to do it yourself if you choose to do so). Most vets will do it for you when you take them for their yearly vaccination.

If you let them know you want to learn how to do it yourself, they will show you how to do it and may even let you do one foot under their supervision so you can gain more confidence. If you need to go in there a couple of times and get them to watch you, do it. Utilise your veterinary clinic because that is what they are there for.

Clippers should usually come with a a how to guide and tips.
Watch plenty of tutorials for handling and clipping nails techniques.
Puppy needs to feel comfortable with having paws touched – search techniques for this too.
A good and trusted vet can show you how do clip dogs nails and how to understand nails on dogs.

I would err on the side of caution less is best but it depends if tge nails are black or see through you need to be careful not to clip the vein if you really aren’t sure get the vet to show you.
