Hello!

Why are my coffees tasting metallic? I use long life milk decided to make coffee using my coffee machine… I have not used it for a while. I used some Harris coffee which was new, frothed up the milk and after making my coffee it tasted metallic, not nice! At first I thought okay not used to that coffee before so went back to my old coffee, froth up more milk… Wow yuk! It tasted like metallic again. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

  • I agree give the machine a thorough clean

  • I’m agreeing with others who have said clean the machine thoroughly.

  • Sounds like you always use long life milk and it was just the coffee blend that was new? I agree with the others, use filtered water and descale your coffee machine.

  • It could be too much mercury in the water, have you water tested for mercury levels

  • I would start by giving the coffee machine a clean and then take it from there.

  • I asked my partner as I don’t drink coffee but he does. He agrees with others that you need to give the machine a good clean out.

  • It will either be the machine needs a good clean out or it’s the water. We had an issue with water being boiled in the jug tasting metallic (but only if it was boiled and cooled and boiled again – so we now only boil enough to use then empty and fill again when boiling again). Hope that might help…

  • it could be the water??

  • descaking sounds like to the go – but also I have found long life milk can taste different with different beverages, so maybe try some normal milk too.

  • What does a normal cup of coffee taste like ? Is the council working on the mains, Clean out yourmilk frother and coffee machine, either boil up a lemon juice or vinigar solution and rince . Use filtered water. Or change the milk,..I find skim UHT tastes metallic.

  • Sounds like you need to clean your coffee machine. Google it or check the manual. You may have to buy a special product for it.

  • Yeah absolutely a descaler will hopefully fix the problem

  • It sounds as though your coffee machine needs a clean out. This is the same sort of thing that can happen with kettles, and normally you could clean a kettle out with either lemon juice or boil some vinegar through it.

  • i believe it sounds like you need to descale your machine, there should be instructions on how to do that in the machines booklet

  • Have you changed your diet? sometimes things taste differently 🙂

  • Perhaps the machine needs to be washed & ride a few times, sounds like sucking on a spoon taste, if continues I would contact supplier 🙂

  • I would use a descaler first and formost to clean your coffee maker. there could be a build up of gunk. make sure you rinse it well before reuse after doing ths
