Hello!

A friend of ours has an electric clothes dryer and is finding that a lot of condensation comes into the Laundry and adjoining room, especially if more than one load is done on a cold or humid day. It has left “water marks” down one wall.
When it isn’t raining the outside door can be left open. Once when I was visiting and 4 loads had been done and there was also condensation on the floor and the tiles were slippery. Any suggestions please? We dry small clothes outdoors undercover when we can but things such as unifoms (because they are always needed) and large items have to go in the dryer at the moment.

  • The kits are not expensive either, but she will need a hole in the wall to direct the hot air

  • i never had such problem. have to keep windows open though. if it isn’t helping, the dryer needs service or fixing may b?

  • Try and get a camel mould remover thing.. It absorbs a lot of moisture , also never close doors when dryers are on.

  • Agreed on the ventilation! I haven’t bothered to set it up though, instead I put our drier in the garage & use it out there where there’s more ventilation. I don’t use it much anyway, so don’t miss it not being in the laundry.

  • It might be a dryer that needs an extraction system for the steam. It might help if you half dry clothes on an airer overnight and then just finish them off in the dryer. Will save you heaps of money on your power bill too.

  • Lots of dryers now have ventilation packs or you can do what we have done and place the dryer out the back under the patiio.

  • Ventilation is the issue! If you cant have windows & doors open, get extractor fans.

  • If she can’t have a door open a jar then has she thought about a ceiling fan which will extract the heat.

  • Could she have an exhaust fan installed in the ceiling? We have an exhaust fan which we use when we cannot have the external door open

  • inthink thats just the way dryers are mine and my mums both do it if you dont gave the doors opened its very annoying but not sure on what you can do to this

  • I have the same problem I leave the door or closest window slightly ajar and an old towel to wipe condensation of the walls and floor

  • We have a small electric dehumidifier especially for the laundry, we only use it as we need it but it makes a lot of difference! Cli-Mate is the brand

  • i have the same problem, i leave windows doors all open

  • I hardly ever use my drier so cant really comment but as others have said air ventilation is great, so windows and doors open!

  • there are kits that you can buy, that direct the hot air outside and it stops all of these problems

  • I know this has probably been said but you have to ventilate as much as possible, that includes leaving the laundry door open as well some windows, this should solve a lot of your friends problem. A dehummidifer also helps

  • I get this too but you must open a window or a door always.

  • I’ve not had this condensation problem but I always make sure I leave the internal laundry door open when the dryer is on.

  • If you have an weatherproof area outside it is best that it be placed there if it cannot be permanently vented to outside. Another problem it can create is that it will wet the ceiling insulation and eventually crack all the ceiling plaster if not vented to outside It happened to us! And is not covered by insurance!

  • I have the same problem, I leave the door open, that seems to work fine!
