Hello!

A friend of ours has an electric clothes dryer and is finding that a lot of condensation comes into the Laundry and adjoining room, especially if more than one load is done on a cold or humid day. It has left “water marks” down one wall.
When it isn’t raining the outside door can be left open. Once when I was visiting and 4 loads had been done and there was also condensation on the floor and the tiles were slippery. Any suggestions please? We dry small clothes outdoors undercover when we can but things such as unifoms (because they are always needed) and large items have to go in the dryer at the moment.

  • Have the same problem if I don’t have the window open in the laundry at the same time when using the dryer. Exhaust fan might work.Getting air to circulate seems to be the best help…not leaving the room shut up. I try to air dry inside if it’s raining or too wet, and then only use the clothes dryer for essential items.

  • Our laundry (with clothes dryer) has the toilet on one side, and the back lobby on the other. We have louvre windows in the laundry. When I use the dryer, I make sure the door to the loo & also the lobby are open, and the louvre windows are open a bit. I’ve never had a problem with moisture build-up, unless the small laundry is completely closed off while the dryer is going. Open doors, open windows, and if that doesn’t work, an exhaust fan to remove the hot air should do the trick.

  • Those hippo moisture absorbers are great

  • Have an exhaust fan installed that is ducted outside not into the roof cavity.

  • Same I always leave doors and windows open and it usually dries within few hours.

  • I always leave the door open/ flyscreen closed. For a permanent solution you could get an exhaust fan installed. Also buy some of the damp absortion stuff from Bunnings to keep the laundry fresh after the dryer has been used.

  • Same here, I also open a window.

  • I have the same problem with the walls and floors in the laundry getting wet when I use my dryer. I find that if I open any window or door that is close by like the bathroom it seems to help a lot. The warm air needs to escape to somewhere. Or maybe run a fan a portable one if you have one to circulate the air.
