Hashimoto’s disease is an autoimmune disorder where the immune system attacks the thyroid gland.
 Hypothyroidism is when the thyroid is not releasing enough of the two main hormones it produces, T3 (triiodothyronine) and T4 (thyroxine)

Yes, they are different.
Hashimoto is an auto-immune disease. That means that your own immune system is fighting against your thyroid. In your body you have some special antibodies that attack your owns cells. And you need to take medicines to keep those numbers under control.
Often, if you have Hashimoto, you have hypothyroidism too. Your thyroid is thus underactive and doesn’t produce enough thyroxine.
But you can have hypothyroidism without having Hashimoto. To be diagnosed with Hashimoto they have to find some special antibodies in your blood.
