Hello!

I’ve just been “hit-on” by a Gumtree Buyer!
So, do I just ignore his emails ( and hope he gets the message) or reply & advise him I am married with kids!
Keep in mind he knows where I live!

  • Let him know that you are happily married with children.

  • And ? what did you do ? Hope he buggered off !

  • Politely inform him you are off the market, happily married with kids. I’m pretty sure you can block emails somehow

  • I hope this man stopped emailing or contacting you.

  • I’d tell your husband and ignore. If he persists, send a short message advising that his emails are not wanted and you will advise the police if he persists.

  • I’ve been hit on by men and just ignored the messages. I did tell my husband ofcourse.

  • Definitely let your husband know. But I’d just ignore them. If he really gets persistent after that I’d go see the police and let them know. But he’ll probably get the hint and move on fairly quickly.

  • Wow, some people will try anything! I’d politely tell him to leave you alone, that you’re married etc and hopefully he won’t bother you again. That would be a better option than being bombarded with emails and it stressing you out, or him going to your house. Nicer for you both to know where you stand. Nip it in the bud. If that fails, tell him your husband will get him, haha!

  • If not interested , ignore him . That’s is the first I have heard about Gumtree , but anything can happen !

  • I agree with Regine Kong – I thinks that’s the best way to go about it.

  • First things first, tell your husband, then you can reply to his email by saying something along the lines of while you are very flattered by the attention, you are quite happily married and aren’t looking and wish him all the best.
If he replies, tell him that he’s making you uncomfortable and that if he persists you will have to involve the police because it is harassment.

  • you can say no nicely – thanks but no thanks kinda thing

  • Let him know that you are married and not interested, then ignore any future emails. If you feel unsafe or threatened, contact the police and let them deal with it.

  • block emails and report to police.

  • Let him know you’re not interested, you’re happily married with kids. Then ignore him

  • Bounce the emails back to sender, delete it then block his email address.

  • I would report to Gumtree straight away. Do not reply but keep the emails as evidence for Gumtree or police. How scary for you!

  • I would block his email address and also let the police know if you feel threatened.

  • so i am assuming that he has bought something from you and gone to your home to pick it up while hubby was working and kids at school. i would let him know that you are married though and better yet, do ignore him. He probably won’t follow up with anything more though. get a lock for the front screen and then you don’t have to open it to talk to anyone

  • both! how did it go?
