We were talking about Christmas with my in-laws the other night and they suggested that we put a limit on Christmas present for everyone, which I’m fine with, and then the conversation came around to maybe we just shouldn’t do Christmas presents for anyone at all. I’m fine with this as well except it’s not ‘not doing Christmas presents for anyone’ because my in-laws will do gifts for all of us ‘kids’, we’ll all do gifts for them and everyone will do gifts for my daughter and my niece. Again, I probably wouldn’t have a problem with this except that one of my husband’s siblings doesn’t have any children, so they’ll be buy presents for our daughter and our niece but not get anything themselves just because they don’t have kids.
I just feel bad because we obviously benefit from them giving something to our daughter whether it means that’s something we don’t have to buy ourselves or even just the joy she’ll get from the gift. Am I being weird feeling bad about this? What do others do about Christmas presents for their siblings?
