Hello!

Do you feel judged by what you wear to school pick up? Do you ever feel self-conscious? Are their cliques like the good old high school days….I see this so much wondering what your experiences are!

  • Not at our school, we have drive through pick up!

  • I found that schools tend to have “mothers club” groups of people that generally are stay at home mums who like drama. I don’t have time for other people and couldn’t care less about what other people think about me, or what I wear.

  • I prefer not to be in crowds, so I rarely even entered the school grounds. I however, couldn’t care less what people think of what I’m wearing – I’m not dressing for them.
I think people become too focused on what other people think of them.

  • No not at all, wear what you like and feel good in; I can appreciate when other people do this too :)

  • I did feel uncomfortable on some days when I was wearing ‘house clothes’ but generally didn’t worry.

  • No, I’ve never felt judged, and I can’t say I care what other people wear either.

  • Nah, just be who you are and wear what you want :)

  • I never had to pick my kids up from school, they caught a bus. I have heard the mums can be quite catty.

  • I rarely feel judged – I’m not usually particularly stylish, but I don’t think anyone at school pickup cares as long as you’re clean and tidy.

  • I think everyone can feel a little self-conscious. I found that just focussing on why I was there rather than who was around me helped me relax.

  • I feel a little self conscious if I’m wearing something daggy, but to be honest I’m mostly too busy to worry about it.

  • No Never, but I do know that kids are conscious of what cars their parents drive for some reason . My niece ( who is an adult now ) used to tell her dad to park his old bomb of a car behind a tree and walk as all the other parents drove nice cars. She went to a Christian private school and didn’t want to be embarrassed . A bit rude I thought !

  • I’ve always been older than a lot of the mums, so being part of the clique was never going to be for me. I have found that as your child moves into high school, you don’t see as many of the cliquey groups.

  • I had a friend who felt this way.
Don’t ever feel judged for anything!
Your a Mum! Your not meant to arrive at school pick up in a formal dress!
Some working Mums arrive in suits. Stay at home Mums arrive in what ever they are comfortable in! You shouldn’t be judged! You have the only true full time job in the world! You work 24 hours a day 7 days a week! If you have time to slap on some makeup & run a brush through your hair, awesome. If you don’t, who cares! I’m sure there were reasons like being run off your feet!
At least your picking your child up!
Wear what ever you feel comfortable in!
& remember, while these judgemental Mums are sitting there judging by what you wear they are obviously not paying any attention to their child who is probably screaming out for attention & not getting it because Mummy is to busy gossiping with her friends. Kids won’t forget that.
Your child however, is going to know how loved they are because no matter what was happening Mum always was there to pick them up, in trackies, jeans, PJ’s, what ever :)

  • Sometimes I might look somewhat daggy, but that’s because I’ve finished work or running around.

  • Yep, yep and yep. I think I often get ‘the look’ , I’m not sure what for but assume some days it’s for what I’m wearing. You can’t help it if you’ve had a busy day and it’s school pick up time, you just jump in the car and go, clean, dirty, scruffy, dishevelled…whatever. As long as you’re on time to get the kiddies, it’s not too important.
I also find there seems to get return to the cliques of high school days, some people never grow up

  • I try and stay out of the ‘clicky’ groups. They definitely exist. I get to school 2 minutes before pick up and just look at my phone the whole time. There’s some mums that hang around until an hour after school has finished still talking! I don’t really feel self conscious of what I’m wearing though….it’s more the gossip that gets to me.

  • Sometimes I might look a little daggy picking up our granddaughter if I’ve had a busy day but her delight when she sees me is the only judgement I care about.

  • There are always groups that form at school. It’s usually starts of everyone is buddy buddy. Then one parents kid goes home saying bad things about another kid and then that parent and child is excluded. It’s sad and it’s not nice at all. But in saying that not all are like that. Just be yourself and don’t care if they are clicky find someone u get along with

  • I never judge people on what they wear. It is what in the heart that counts
