A friend’s baby was a few days overdue and his skin was very red, dry and peeling – especially his face, hands and feet. Both parents are Australian. It was suggested by the hospital staff that she start mositurising straight away and to continue doing it. When she forgot a couple of days when two of the family were sick he very quickly developed a rash. She also used soap and fragrance free baby wash.
Even when I was still pregnant, I was advised by other mums (Asian specifically Filipino mums, I am Filipino btw) to moisturise my bubs skin. Apparently, Asian (Filipino) babies born here in Australia tend to develop eczema (and I know of some Filipino kids and teens who did develop it). I was recommended QV, Cetaphil and GAIA. We opted for QV as it works for my daughter and is cheaper than the other two.
Yeah, I am moisturizing my baby’s skin since birth. Because my skin is not healthy and soft. So I am just more concerned about my little one skin and health. And it works.
My 9 year old daughter uses the Clean and Clear range. It’s never too early to get kids started on a cleaning routine. Moisturising once a day for kids and teens is great for their skin.
My son is now a tween, so he is just getting started with a very mild skin care regime. I have gotten him started on very neutral products like QV gentle foaming facial cleanser and he wears a sunscreen designed for sensitive skin that he shares with me. He had started to get little pimples, nothing major but it was obvious to me that he had started to produce more sebum than usual and whilst that is normal he wasn’t cleansing his face with an appropriate product. Something very neutral and non comedogenic is usually on the agenda for both of us as I’m going kind of going through the same minor skin changes as he is because of my age and changing hormones as well.
Yep have always moisturised all 3 of my kids. I have extremely dry & ezcema-probe skin so have been vigilant with the kids. I’m also very fussy on what products I use, and have found the best by far to be oils – either avocado oil, coconut oil, or even a good quality cold pressed olive oil. A little goes a long way & doesn’t have any rubbish ingredients
Yes it does . My son had dry skin as a baby so I always applied applied Sorbelene after his bath . That goes the same for my daughter even though hers was more oily but I think it is a good habit and later on they practised doing it themselves. I even try to persuade y son to apply lotion on now and forget he is 17 , but he looks after himself well due to good habits.
