  • I was the opposite and craved mountains of veggies

  • Yes I did! Start simple, 1 meal a week make sure it includes atleast 2 types of fruit or veges and increase it the following week to 2 days a week.

  • Remember to not be so hard on yourself. Someone wise once told me that eating well is like catching a train, where even if you get off the ‘healthy track’ to enjoy a stop of junk food, just get back on the train at the next opportunity. Each meal/snack is another chance to try again.

  • I find regular snacking on healthy foods keep the cravings away.
As soon as I start to feel hungry all I want it chips or some sort of carbs.

  • I had to eat what I wanted due to my health!

  • I was told during my pregnancy to “listen to your cravings and eat what you want”. I did this and wish I hadn’t. Whilst I did eat healthy foods I also craved late night sugary snacks. I endured horrendous morning sickness up until I was around 20 weeks and didn’t eat much then, but soon made up for that in my last trimester. I gained almost 20 kilos during my whole pregnancy and have since struggled to lose the weight.

I wish I had snacked less, even though I was craving, or chose better options to ease the cravings. I think its ok in moderation.

  • I really watched what I ate but just couldn’t get past the cravings!

  • 100% I had this problem too, and even post pregnancy as well due to being so hungry from bf.

  • I was really looking after what I was eating with my 1st kid and gain so much weight and lost it very quickly so with my 2nd I just let go and ate what I and baby wanted.

  • When I had/ have lots of cravings I try and fulfill what I want with one catch… I have to make it myself! So McDonalds would be a home made burger with home made fries. It’s better for you, even if it’s a treat, plus the work of having to make it helps keep cravings under control.

  • Dont be too hard on yourself- a restrictive mindset causes rebound overeating and guilt!

  • I basically was eating pasta or sushi.. I really couldn’t stand much else. Barely craving any meat. All I can say is keep up with vitamins (on top of my pregnancy supplement I took vit D, zinc and magnesium) aswell that I tried to snack on some carrot sticks, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers between meals as snacks as much as I could when I was having cravings.

    Good luck!

  • Being diagnosed with GD has forced me to start eating better but I must admit I was eating fairly well before pregnancy anyway. Just remember you’re setting baby up for life as well

  • I really just kept focusing on the fact it was time limited, and fantasising about the meal I’d have post birth. But TBH, if it’s not on the actively dangerous list, then you’re probably not going to hurt baby if you indulge in a food treat once or twice during a pregnancy. Most mums (including me) will admit to eating something less than healthy at least once while pregnant.

  • Yep, it’s seriously so hard! Like why can’t we just crave healthy food? Lol I’m constantly craving coffee this pregnancy and I’m not a huge drinker of it. And chocolate milk.

  • It wasn’t easy. I suffered with morning sickness until around 19 weeks, and the only thing that settled it was salt and vinegar chips and iced coffee milk. Weird, right? But that’s what my body wanted. The desire for those things lessened once the morning sickness calmed down. At 28 weeks, I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. So then both hubby and I strictly stuck to the foods the diabetes educator had discussed. Basically, keeping carbs and sugars under 10g per 100g, and same with fats. The food was better quality and I wasn’t hungry because I was eating regular small meals. We still managed to have a little treat, a bit of chocolate or cheese and crackers for supper before bed. I guess look at what you’re craving. What about it are your craving? If it’s a burger, would you get the same satisfaction from a healthier meaty burger made at home? Make sure your iron levels are checked and things like that. Deficiencies can make you crave things more, and I know my iron and vitamin D dropped seriously low during pregnancy. Baby was absorbing it all.

  • I had HG and the only thing I could keep down were chips. It was so hard

  • You are not alone mum. it’s totally normal. I had cravings for kfc spicy burger. Can’t believe it now. Sometimes ate midnight by my self. Don’t worry all are on same boat

  • I think its about having food prepared and available to just grab. Since my bub I haven’t eaten the best and I feel guilty as I Brestfeed. I just don’t have time or energy around looking after bub and doing everything else to make something from scratch. Too many expectations from everyone

  • I hate to say it but it gets worse once the baby is here. I thought having extra time being at home I would make healthy options but I really haven’t. Now more than ever I eat terrible. Hopefully you can change your habits and have more restraint than myself
