i switched my 4year old recently to wholemeal and he loves it. i started giving it for toast in the morning but he loves the sandwiches with it too (but dislikes the crust)
Brown – in all its forms wholemeal, rye, lots of grains and seeds. White bread is a VERY BAD option since it is full of refined carbohydrates and sugars, lacking ALL the natural vital B-vitamins from the grains. The best part is thrown away.. and while they might add a few artificial chemicals and nutrients in the while to get you to buy it this doesn’t fix it up; white bread is still TRASH and affects your body as badly cakes/do nuts. Haven’t looked back since we switched.
I used to use white until a friend of mine says eating brown is much healthier and the kids will get used to it if you start them off with it . The downside is that brown bread loses its softness a bit faster than white and then it becomes toast .
Not all like Wholemeal. My niece hates it and will not even touch it. She enjoys mulit-grain. If you use multigrain ensure the grain is soft. Some that are harder than others have a tendency to get stuck in your teeth.
White bread at its worst is like junk food. It contains salt, sugar and is low in fibre. The nutritional content is actually very low. I used multi grain bread. It is high in fibre, has seeds which contain good oils for cholesterol, tastes much better than white bread and keeps you feeling fuller for longer. (No, I don’t work for a Bread board)!
Anything but white bread, it lacks nutrition and is often stored as far. Wholemeal, whole grains, sour dough, rye….there’s so many other options that are way healthier than white, try until you find one they love
for me it changes depending on what I can afford at the time. normally white but when I can afford nicer bread I tend to buy Rye. My kids wont eat wholemeal or grain but they love rye bread.
We have white bread in our house only because hubby refuses to eat anything else. I personally prefer brown or multigrain though. We don’t buy two different ones because I’m not a huge bread eater and will only eat one or two slices from the loaf .
