Hello!

With Fathers Day approaching I was looking for some ideas for sentimental presents, be they homemade crafts, or bought presents for my partner and dad from the kids. I have a 3 year old and a 9 week old.

  • Great ideas ladies thanks again

  • A gift made by the kids is far more rewarding than a bought gift.

  • I find that the sentimental gifts and home made gifts are the best because dads like the fact that their kids made it with their own hands

  • I bought my husband a shirt I saw advertised on Facebook that says Dad Since and the year your oldest was born. You may be able to even include both years for your two kids.

  • thanks ladies, such amazing ideas 🙂

  • I have a small handmade business and I make ties for $25 each (amid a few other bits and pieces!), I can make a custom one if you have an idea of what pattern he might like. http://www.facebook.com/minkiboo

  • photo gifts are nice too from the kids with a picture of them and dad doing something fun together. I look at companies like snappish for inspiration!

  • If you have a built-in video function on your mobile, you could record a video and send it to their dad on the day – it will be a wonderful surprise.

  • Anything with handprints and fingerprints are well received in our house! We love to keep them to look back on how tiny their hands were!

  • Any homemade artwork is always good and definitely a keepsake.

  • My dad is a hankerchief man so I think embroidered initials on a really nice one would be great. Maybe a photo item like mug, t-shirt. Some cuff links with his initials. Not sure what else to suggest but i have just thought of a photo blanket too. New item.

  • A homemade/decorated photo frame is always special. We have an outing on Father’s Day, take a photo of the family and then place it in the frame as a wonderful memory of the day and celebration.

  • Each year, for fathers day, I take a photo of my child and now children holding a D and A and D and place it in 3 frames on the bookshelf. The first year, my son was only a couple of months old so i had the letters next to him in different poses. Now, i have my son colour in the letters i cut out and we can be more creative. Our thought is that after a few years, we will use all the pictures and put them in a bigger frame so my husband can see the changes over the years.
I also like putting the kids handprints in the fathers day card.

  • Have your three year old paint on some plain paper for wrapping paper for Dad’s gift.
You could have a photo of the kids made into a coffee mug and a mouse mat at Office Works or Harvey Norman. I made wine bottle labels of my three and stuck them over his favourite Port and Wine. (He still has these.. but they are empty).

  • If you check out Pintrest there are some great ideas for using foot/hand prints. I did one last year with my kids on canvas so dad can keep it forever. Said he loved it and we’d have to do one every year so he could see how much they’ve grown

  • A collage of just DAD and kids pics 🙂 ……….. i’m working on this for my hubby … a gift from my baby …:)

  • I love brag books! You can find different ideas in Internet. For example this one http://www.nickjr.com/printables/dads-briefcase-brag-book.jhtml I actually printed exactly this one a lot of years ago, attached some pictures of my daughter with her dad, and then my daughter made some drawings.

  • With the three year old you can buy plain coffee mugs and get your kid to paint it. Make sure you follow the instructions to set it in the oven after so it stays on.( if the kid isnt crafty put your Fav photo on it of them at office works or harvey norman).(or on a keyring) Or you could get a cheap canvas from the reject shop and get your 3 year old to do a painting full of love for daddy to hang on the wall. Maybe even put both their hand prints and foot prints on it to hang on the wall.

  • There are some wonderful ideas in the craft section on here! Check them out!
