I got RSPCA insurance when I got my dog at 11weeks. She is now 7 and having the insurance was the best thing I ever did. Last year she needed to have surgery on her back leg as a result of crushing her cruciate ligament. I was quoted $4,500 and because of the insurance I didn’t have to work out if I could afford to have it done immediately. I ended up being just over $700 out of pocket. It’s the best insurance I ever got and will always insure my animals with them.
I went with Medibank because we have the health insurance with them and so we get 10% discount. But after a while I realized that with Medibank for example we had to pay for the castration, while with RSPCA it’s completely covered.
But because my dog developed an allergy, if we switch now this “pre-condition” will never be covered.
