Hello!

Would you let your dog lick your child’s face? From a germ perspective that is.

  • No I don’t like to be licked myself by a dog and certainly wouldn’t like it when it doesn’t lick my baby’s face

  • A little lick won’t hurt. Just not on the mouth and not excessive. I try to teach mine not to lick tho

  • no i don’t like dog’s licking or jumping on people, personally

  • That is something we never let any of our dogs do to anybody. If it was attempted the dog was gently pushed away. I detest that and always stop any visitors from encouraging the dog, a cat too for that matter. Some dogs will do it if they have a salt deficiency if they are allowed to do it once. Make sure your pets always have plenty of water available so they don’t attempt it to get any moisture.

  • Yuk if it can be avoided try but if its by accident, just shew away if possible

  • Not if it can be helped, but I wouldn’t go to pieces if it happened, just wash their faces :) I’ve seen what dogs love to lick, not nice :)

  • I am dog lover too – but this is a no, no. I have seen noses and cheeks that have been bitten by dogs and all occurred in play. When kids are older and can handle and be in charge of a dog then they can have more play time.

  • I don’t like dogs licking anyone’s face. Yes I am a dog lover. It’s not something I encourage with mine and if it does happen I wash my daughter’s face immediately

  • No way! The dog could transmit infectious material like faeces into the baby’s mouth or eyes.

  • I do but not too much! My daughter loves it when the dog kisses her she gets so happy. I mostly clean her face straight after but a bit of germs won’t hurt!

  • yes and no to much is to much, but a little will help it build up a immunity to bugs etc…… but to much is over thw top. The dog needs to learn its place in the family tree.( its at the bottom)

  • Obviously it’s not ideal, but I have a playful dog and a playful toddler and occasionally this happens. I don’t worry about it too much considering the amount of other germs she must be getting during the day! I don’t think there’s any disease that can be spread this way. Just think of it as building the immune system.

  • Dogs should not lick faces, especially babies. Dogs can be very playful and sometimes they nip. I would not chance it.
