Hello!

What essentials would you pack to take with you if you needed to leave your home in an emergency due to a fire. I am preparing a bag in the lead up to summer and would love to know what you would include – keep sakes, sentimental items, etc.

  • We also have a letter from our GP listing everyone’s medications, plus a weeks worth packed with it.

  • Like what everyone has said a USB with all essential information then grab your list of essentials medications anything you can’t replace or will need before you have time to replace so change of clothes for everyone basic toiletries, first aid kit etc

  • Most Emergency Services have a good evacuation list. The only other thing I would add to all the other great responses is to have a plan. So everyone knows what to do

  • Just recently just came back from our holiday trip in New Zealand so I picked up their emergency essential evacuation box must have as follows;
A copy of USB stick with photos memories
Copy of house or bank essential paperwork
    Copy of house Insurance stuff
    Essential personal clothing
    Extra phone or laptop chargers
    Slab of water
    Torch or tin food

  • My identity card, important documents, and things of high sentimental value to me.

  • We were evacuated during 2013 bushfires. I packed photos and my folder of paperwork (for insurance, birth certificates etc) Then I packed dog food, food from the fridge and freezer. Then clothes and toiletries. We had a bit of warning so had a bit of time to pack. Photos and paperwork first tho

  • Stuff you won’t be able to replace. For me it would be a box of the kids’ stuff that holds memories and a filing box that has all our important documents in it.

  • A thumb drive with scans of vital documents and family photos.

  • grab your phone/ laptop a bottle of water, a warm jacket, car keys, wallet ,kids, pets. Certificates can be replaced and you should have made copies already and put on your computer or uploaded to the net

  • Items that cannot be replaced, or are a huge hassle to replace. Things like birth certificates, any study/certificate documents. Medications, first aid kit, water and non perishable foods, blanket, spare clothes.

  • Ours has got our birth certificates, marriage certificate, passports, kids maternal health books, resumes and valuable jewellery.
Everyone knows where it is and that it is to be taken in an emergency.
Our other concern is to make sure we have carriers for our pets to be able to take them in the car quickly. Everything else can be replaced.

  • Documents. Have you tried to google? There must be a list on suggestions somewhere.

  • Identification documents, spare clothes, anything where photos are kept if not online etc.

  • Important documentation, medication and inhalants, my makeup for sure and a box of malteses for my enjoyment.

  • torch light and water,

  • Definitely a first aid kit and water!

  • Photos and certificates and important documents are always ready.

  • We use the RFS and other emergency services guides and lists. Then add our own items to the lists. Well worth looking up and using their resources.

  • Mine would be the keep sale, non replaceable things first and then just get out. Can always get free water / healthcare if needed

  • I’d have images of all insurance policies and important documents/photos/scripts saved on my phone or cloud.
    Laptop
Medications at hand to grab fast
    Water
    First aid
