Hello!

I am writing this to find out if anyone else thinks they should have lived somewhere else. I live in Melbourne and do love it, but I cannot stand the weather. On days like today raining and cold you just want to have the heater on and stay inside. I would much rather be where the sun shines all year round. Does anyone else feel this way ?

  • Very interesting topic. We have just been discussing it in our family. My husband and I have just returned from a holiday in southern QLD. Weather was good, now back in Melb and weather is terrible. While I love Melb, with the galleries, restaurants, shopping, and culture, I love Qld’s weather and always feel better there. I must admit that I didn’t like not being able to find a restaurant for dinner, apart from take-away types.

Problem is that once your kids are teenagers, its very hard to move. And now that one has started a 6 year uni course, its very difficult. I wouldn’t want to leave her behind. So I suppose you either move before kids, or when they are little.

Then there’s the matter of work. My husband’s job doesn’t exist outside of Melb or Sydney, so there’s that too.

Maybe when we’re retired. But if my kids have kids, I want to be an involved nanna……..So maybe we live in Melb, but just go for lovely holidays whenever we can!!!!

  • i live in perth and love it here but we do have cold days/nights where i wish i was else where too but hey thats the perfect times for heater and cuddles with my kids

  • The grass isn’t always greener on the other side.

We’ve lived in just about every state from Tassie to Qld and there’s no such thing as perfect weather. Having lived in Qld for 20 years and then moving to NSW for our tree change 5 years ago we’ve really felt the cold. Living in a warmer climate while you have the heater on where you are might sound ok now but how would you feel about having an air conditioner on most of the year and not wanting to venture outside in the heat?

I understand how you feel about Melbourne, we lived there for a couple of years and I hated it, I always felt so cold.

Birds are lucky, they have wings and migration.

  • Yes for sure!

  • I wish that I lived in a tropical climate too

  • I’m not a fan of Melbourne, whilst it’s great to visit, the weather is to erratic, I like 4seasons, but not in one day

  • I live in Newcastle and am very lucky to have good weather, but I did reside in Townsville for nearly 1 year and other than cyclone season the warm weather is perfect and I could of stayed there, if my family were there with me

  • I think it is good to have the variety. I myself love the cooler weather. If you were somewhere like Darwin you would tire of the heat.

  • i did feel this way when i lived in the desert and then i moved to the sea side

  • A friend of ours just moved to Sydney for the same reason – weather!

  • I grew up in qld and moved to Perth for 2 years for study and fell in Love with the west. I came back to QLD to spend some time with my family but had every intention of going back to WA, however i ended up meeting my husband and falling pregnant so we have settled here. I love being near my family but I’m not a big fan of goldcoast/ Bris, I wish everyone could relocate west lol.
