Hello!

So normally I put the fabric softener straight into the water when I’m doing a wash, but in my top loader there is a dispenser for the fabric softener. I can take the compartment out of the machine (to clean, I’m assuming), but there are no holes in it, so I’m wondering if I put the softener in the compartment, how is it added to the wash? Thanks

  • I’m not sure how it works but my machine is the same and it somehow gets in there. I assume something opens and it runs in when the clothes are covered in water

  • It filters down at end of cycle. When you finish you should see its gone. If not try just putting cuddly in at last rinse cycle.

  • Follow the machine instructions; I do and it works.

  • not sure unless i saw a picture but i just mix my softener with about 3 cups of water in a bucket then pour it in myself during the rinse cycle.

  • lol good question. i have a front loader though

  • My top loader has a bowl thing in the middle for fabric softner :-)

  • I don’t know, but I have always put it in that part. HAHA.

  • I have that as well and have never used it. I just do what you do and put it straight into the washing machine.

  • With my machine there is a setting for each wash and i elect if im using fabric softner or not…if i am then it opens the dispenser and flushes it with water.

  • Interesting question. I always just added it to the fabric softener compartment.

  • Wow it just goes thought about it but never bothered to find out how it works. It just adds it somewhere in one if the cycles

  • no idea, I just put mine straight into the wash

  • when the machine fills with water it will fill somewhere near where the fabric softener is.

  • my Fisher & Paykel has the same, it does work!!!
I have always assumed the machine sprays water in there during the rinsing cycle, or it could just be the power of centrifugal force??

  • What an interesting question! I’ve never really thought about this either but now I’m wondering!!

  • I’d love to know the answer to this! It’s like little fairies come in and move it while the was is going, cos it ain’t there when it’s finished!

  • Good question….water must somehow enter that section in order to get it into the wash.

  • Good question. I can only assume the machine fills enough to flood the softener cup. I used to use mine all the time and never wondered this. Google here I come lol
